clearing 10" wide wheels on S13
Hey i was wondering if i could tuck 10" wide wheels (rear) on an s13 with less than 1 degree of camber and only a roll and pull. also would a 255 or a 275 be square? i dont want to stretch...

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's possible to fit a 10" wheel with only a minor pull if you only one a degree or so of camber and wanting to run a 275. Unless of course you're not that low, but then you're not tucking.. sooo yeah.
Check that max rubber thread that was floating around. |

Honestly, a 9 in the rear would work just fine. 10 is cutting it real close. Thats a big ass wheel.
once you reach a certian width, you stop gaining that stability factor, and start loosing important stuff like tire prices, drag, et cetera.

yes im puttin an LS1 in so i need plenty of tire on the ground. and 10" wide. i know it all depends on the offset, but is there any offset i can run and tuck 10" with little to no camber i have a fender roller but i dont want to pull it too much

18x10 +20mm with a 245 tire.
Not alot of camber and requires the slight stretched tire and this much pull. When I had the wheel at +35mm, I ran into rubbing problems on the suspension arms. That was the wheel rubbing, a larger tire wouldv'e needed even less offset, in my opinion, to properly clear.

Just get a 9 inch wheel with decent offset and run a 255 265 and roll fenders and pull it how you want, it can't be absolutly perfect you have to give from a certain area to gain elsewheres, wider wheel = more of a streched tire and more rolling and pulling, it really comes down to just doing it and dialing it to make it comprimise and fit and look how you want it.

Not to mention if you want to tuck wheel and run Auto-x that means your shit would have to be SUNK. If not you're going to chew the hell out of the sidewalls of those non-stretched tires. You do realize the rear wheels and tires move when you take hard corners, right?
And if it's used for Drag racing, having the rear end dropped that far will not yield good launches. I think you need to rethink what it is you actually want.

^ He's refering to the fact that you want to tuck. Slamming a 240sx to tuck is fucking the geometry but of course it depends on teh dia. of the wheel as well.

just so you know. I run stretched tires on auto cross and Grip courses. With a welded diff and still am able to keep it in (keep it from sliding).
if you dont want to stretch, it sounds like maybe you should run a 9, not a 10. If you dont mind stretching, then run a 10. and Im not talking about Xtreme stretching. Im talking like a tiny bit. Like my 195 on 8's. How wide can you go on a 10 and how wide can you go on a 9 BTW?? and still fit?? Is it the rules of the division you wanna run that say you cant roll the fenders or just buy over fenders?? What size you running up front and what Diff?? Quote:
You want to keep those arm just above level, or the suspension cant work as it was designed. If your getting serious about AutoX. Pick up a couple of the books on it. The AutoX community knows an amazing about of info!!! |

I thought he was talking about a 10" wheel diameter and not width for a second.

C5 vettes (that came with ls1s, and are heavier), came with 18x9.5's on the rear, so i think you'll be fine with 9's, esp if you're not stretching
