ka24de questions
hey guys, im a newb here, this is my first post, yay for me! Anyway, im not new to engines, ive been building honda's my whole life (dont hold it against me), but i recked my beloved hatch a while back and decided to get a 240, so i bought a 1989 240 sx with a da24de dual cam engine in it, problem is that it doesnt have a harness on it, the ecu i have is from a 1991 ka24de. I have access to a 1995 240 sx and i was wondering if i could use the engine harness and ecu from that car? And if so what kind of modifications would i have to make? what parts can i use off the 1995 car that would make the 1989 better? Just so you guys know im planning on going ka-t since im new, i figured ka's are cheap to find around here, so it would be the best route, plus it looks fun and i can afford to make mistakes (since i know i will since im kind of new to nissan). Thanks for the help guys, ive done a little searching and couldnt find too mcuh on this.
I really just need to know if a 1995 harness and ecu will work on a dual cam ka in a 1989 car...(the ka is from a 1992 240) |

Need a little more information. Find out if your ECU is an earlier 95 (OBD-I) or later 95 (OBD-II). If it's OBD-I, you should be fine. If not, you need to cut the wipers out of it and rewire F3 to work with the S13 dash connector.

ok how can i tell the obd1 from the obd2? and if it is obd1 will everything just plug right in with no issues? i cant seem to find a real full writeup on the swap and the wiring involved, it seems some have to rewire the dash connector and some dont, thats what im mostly worried about, is how to rewire the dash connector. If the harness and ecu are obd2 can i still use them on my obd1 engine? Its the only local dual cam 240 i could find so im hoping i can use it...

you know going from honda to nissan its like Gay to straight. OBD1 comes on 95 240sxs abd OBD2 comes on 96,97,98 240sxs. i`m not too sureif you can use S14 wires harnesses , on an s13 . Try http://www.courtesyparts.com/secondtier_s13.html i know they have brand new OE items that arent at the dealer price

Get a 91-94 harness and ECU, direct plug in outside and a few cuts inside. The 95-98 harness will require significantly more work and lengthening for the entire underhood portion.

Hey, Russ posted an answer to your question just before you responded to me, 7 hours and 10 minutes before you responded to me, and yes I will continue to be a jerk, because I enjoy it... No one said I was pissed off, I am just a sociopath. I don't hate you, I hate your parents for having you

Hey, jackass, I will tell you that I have an S14 engine in an 89... The engine is out of a 95, I have a harness out of a DOHC S13, the ECU is from a 91. Use the harness corresponding to the ECU you use, but keep in mind that this will be less of a pain in the ass if you use them from a 91-94, as R240NA said... There is no link because I did all the necessary searching befor sourcing parts.

First off, buy or download an FSM. Lazy ass people who cry for help and wish to be spoonfed like you make us all sick, and no one is going to give you the time of day if you don't at least try. Secondly, to use an S14 harness in an S13 you'll need to do what I listed above, Cut off F3, extend and wire in the dash plug, then extend all the ECCS wires several feet, run them outside, and tie into to the underhood plugs. If you haven't researched the swap at all then you'll have no idea what I just said, which further proves you haven't done a damn thing to prepare for what you're attempting. An S14 motor is no different other than a few small changes than an S13 motor and using an S13 harness/ECU is a DIRECT PLUG IN with everything already the right length. But if you're insistent upon using the S14 parts at least look at a fucking diagram of both plugs, it's simple to figure out if you put forth a little effort.

And I will tell you, that Russ knows the wiring to EVERY S-Chassis car by color without having a FSM in hand by heart. The question has been answered repeatedly, yet you continue to re-present the same damn questions, someone please lock this thread, I have thrown enough temper tantrums since this weekend.
