The ONLY time I ever curbed a wheel was in a Jack in the Box drive through that is the most skinny drivethrough I have ever been in. It has a 90 degree turn in it aith curbs on both sides.

I rule at driving.

Massimo rules too. See, He knows how to roll in Italy.

so heres a question for you stretched tire guys, because i've always wondered this.

if running wider wheels is supposed to be some sign of your performance capabilities, or supposed to show off something about your car, which for most of us, it is; then why in gods name would you put a skinnier tire with less contact to the road on it?

to me it makes very little sense to run a 11 inch wide wheel but run a tire size that you could fit on a 8 or 9 inch wide wheel. sure you look jdm tyte, but you're not making any more contact with the road....so does that make you a ricer/poser?

^ this forum mostly is about drifting. Little contact on the road in the rear is great. lets the rear kick out way faster with more responce and tire spin... If you see there are a couple of AutoX'ers here also. and you will see them running side flush tires... 265's on a 9j rim....

less contact. more slide.
more contact more grip

more slide. more drift.
more grip. more grip

orrentation ftw.

/done.

Haha...I clipped a curb recently while parallel parking...but it was a giant chunk of cement hanging off of the curb like 4" out...

So it wasn't really my fault...

Aside from that, I hadn't curbed a rim since my first try parallel parking when I was 15.

Ok I guess I am the only one who has ever curbed their wheels. I have actually never done it while parking, but downtown Baltimore has some fucked up streets.

Here is a serious questions to you guys with such little sidewall..Do you ever have to deal with bending rims? On my old wheels even a 40 series sidewall was no match for Bmore potholes. Then again, maybe I am also the only one tha thas to contend with potholes on a daily basis as well.

Yeah... If it worked like that do you really think I'd be driving a 240SX? Z06 would be in my driveway and I'd be here laughing at tools that think that 265s make their pile S13 A RACECARZAZAZAZ.

「ESSAY POST」

heres why people stretch tires

but seriously, stretching tires is the only way to get good wheel fitment, and it reduces the aspect ratio of the tire, lowers your car for free basically, removes all sidewall flex. a stretched tire is 500x better than a tire too wide for the wheel. have you ever seen like an f body rolling around with stock wheels and like 315 goodyear eagle f1s and its like pulling tread up off the road on the inside and outside cause the tire is like 6 inches wider than the wheel. yeah. thats not a recipe for good handling.

whoever says the sidewall flex is invalid on a car with expensive tires is a fucking idiot. even slicks flex. hell slicks flex more than lo pro azenis, i mean they have cloth sidewalls. steel > cloth. anyone who is racing in a series that mandates a specific tire size is always going to bias towards the wider reccomended wheel size if allowed.

narrower tires have the same contact patch as wider tires under static load. wider tires have different contact patch deformation characteristics under cornering loads however.

regardless, i have 275s on a 12. the fact that the tire is stretched dosent turn it into a dry rotted 195/60. theres probably like 10 people on this board with wider tires than that. i want to stretched 355s onto 19x15s and have somone call me a poser for running stretched tires.

no never bent wheels, and ive hit my share of potholes, work wheels are strong! lightweight wheels may save you 10 pounds unsprung but shit like ssr type c folds in half if you sneeze on it

i curbed my front wheel trying to not drive over a speed bump it was tight. but my rims cost 100$ each so i dont really care.

i would say if you can get the bead to seat (reverse mount wheel helps alot, 225 40 18 on a 10 i mounted up no cheetah easily) then who cares. it takes alot to take the bead off a tire, esp when its inflated. if you can mount it/get it mounted then do it.

enough of all the fuckin sobbing attitudes... i seriously cant take how fuckin faggy people have gotten on this forum. what works for one person, doesnt work for all.

for years, i have been running 16x8's on my stock body s13. Years ago I ran 225/50 but then went with 245/45 all around, running bridgestone tires.. RE750, S03, whatever I could afford at the time. For the past 3-4 years I've been running 245/45 S03's.. its a fantastic street tire.

I will continue to run a 16x8 -15 demon camber until next year. The current tire I just ordered is a 225/50 RE01R.. its a new tire that competes with the Advan Neova AD07. Pretty much top of the line street tire. I chose this over the 245/45 S03 (which i have in storage at the moment) because softer compound should outperform the wider S03.

In the meantime, I have 1 year to search for my new wheels, a 17x10.. something around there. I'll be running 275's front and rear, but i am still waiting for Bridgestone to expand their tire sizes for the RE01R.. so its not a necessity as of yet.

I canyon drive my cars out here in LA. We have potholes, loose gravel, rocks and boulders.. all types of shit end up in the canyons. So, I dont care to have the car excessively low nor do I care to run 18 or 19 inch wheels.. it just doesnt make sense.

There are streets that I've been on where I have launched the car and gotten air, shit.. actually I think kevin was even witness to that once.. haha

Point is, if you drive in places with nice open flat roads and go sliding your car around in parking lots calling yourself a "drifter" because its trendy and cool, thats fine.. do your thing. There are so many states out here in the US that dont have any fuckin canyons.. its sad.

Its a simple concept: build up your car for yourself and your terrain.

the other thing i was gonna add.. is you have to look at the entire picture of your car's setup. a car needs to have some compliance somewhere. if its not in your shocks, then its in your bushings. if its not in your bushings, then its in your tires. if its not in your tires, then dont expect your teeth or your chassis to last long. people run solid bushings, on street cars? i dont get why. add that with stretched tires... excessively stiff shocks.. i mean its a complete fucked recipe. if you dont care about your car or traction, then go for it.. in the meantime, theres folks like me who enjoy passing people in turns because their shit suspension designs have no compliance.

Some tires come with rim protectors (a offset flange) that protects the wheel. I personally like that feature, but i dont think its a necessity.. nor does it make up for shitty driving skills. I see it all the time, a girl in a car with air conditioning on, radio blaring, power steering equipped.. and shes trying to park her car... in the meantime, you hear the rim just mashing away at the curb. NICE. Thats called lack of driving skill.

While I havent ever curb rashed any of my wheels. I have occasionally rub'ed a tire. I mean, without power steering its hard to make these types of idiot maneuvers.. especially if you use your mirrors. but regardless, its a nice thing to have.

oh shit! you're hardcore. after 10 years of building up cars, i should wimper and be embarassed because 16x8 isnt wide enough to impress some asshat that i dont know nor do i care about.

if i wanted to, i could have ran some 17x9 R33 wheels.. or some 19x10.5 TE37's.. but i didnt, because i dont. and thats why all those wheels are sold.

seriously, you guys think a car is supposed to impress others just by making shit more outrageous than the next person. its like "oh damn, if hes running 17x10 i'm gonna run 17x15!"

everyone nowadays fixes up their shit to impress people. this is why we have s13's running around with busted up fiberglass fenders that dont fit right. its generally accepted that fenders and bumpers just arent supposed to fit anymore, right?

wake up homo-rockio... theres more to life than running bullshit extreme setups to impress your male friends with.

bwahahahah, I totally struck a nerve with Team Viceroy when I said that they're Powered by Mom and Dad.

Japanese teams are sponsored by tuning companies, but they're so hardcore that they're sponsored by their parents. That's mad tyte yo!

And maybe if you're a good boy, and do good at school, mommy and daddy won't just give you clothes for Christmas, but also a set of 19 x 15s!

How can you possibly assume that? You don't know these guys. I know for a fact that at least the ones I know work for their own money and spend it accordingly.

I'm tired of hearing this bullshit, people trying to rip on the Viceroy guys out of pure jealousy. Stop being a hater, if you can come up with a decently original diss, then go for it, but stop trying to make something out of nothing dude.
