Any reason NOT to run slicks on the circuit?

I've been doing lapping days and drift events for a few years now. I am also around our local time attack competition quite often and have noticed that most competitors are using EXP or Semi-R class tires. I am considering going to a full slick for my continuing lapping days.

Is there any reason that I should not? Increased strain on suspension, brakes and chassis? Lapping events will not allow? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

The only reasons not to would be:

1: You will learn more on street tires. Since they grip less it takes more driver skill to coax a fast lap time out of street tires than R-compounds.

2: If you plan on running in time attack events race tires may either be illegal or bump you up to a class in which you won't be competitive.
