everything but the shell is at another shop already. getting some things taken care of on the Aristo before they begin the RB180.

Well, honestly, its pretty much to be expected when nobody is there to put a boot up their ass to ensure the shop stays the course on getting your car together. But just out of curiousity, how much money have you dumped into the shop? Now if you've been making payments and no work was being done...I'd be fucking pissed. But if you've only been buying parts and having them put it in without getting paid till you get back, then I wouldnt really put it all on them. Same shit happened to my Silvia in Japan when I deployed, supposed to be done when I got back, all that was done in the 6 months I was gone was they pulled engine out and was mid way to disassembling it. Rebuild wasnt even started.
