KA Another ka not starting...

had been having a problem with motor stalling when driving but would start back up. then was driving one day and car just stalled and wouldn't start. I am getting fuel and spark, alternator tested fine, battery is good, have brand new ngk plugs and wires. Motor will turn over but seems like the fuel isn't igniting. just put in a different coil and had spark, seems like it is weak or not hot enough to burn the fuel.

hmm...well another possibility is faulty ecu.

Friend and i had a problem, (even tho it was an sr20det) but we had almost same symtoms changed ecu and the car started fine.

try to get a friends ecu and see if thats a problem.

Unplug your maf and try starting it again. If it starts then there is something wring with your maf, or its wiring. If it still doesnt start, try doing a compression test to make sure the engine is still healthy.

Like he said do a compression test..probably you have a blown head gasket. My friend blown his between the no.2 and no. 3 cylinder...just died like yours..

would have to agree on this one...its possiblilty its just the MAF, had problem with that..and I switched MAF, worked fine.

take off the fuel line that goes to the fuel filter then turn the key over to see if the fuel pump is sending fuel to the engine
is it isnt then it might be your fuel pump

check your timing. test maf and fuel like the others said above. what heat range are your plugs? if you put colder plugs in then thats your issue. my money would be on timing though.

I change my head gasket the month before this happened because of leaking and causing over heating and it drove fine till this happened. I can hear the pump prime and when I pull the plugs to check for spark I can smell and feel the fuel on the plugs. The plugs should be fine and gapped right because I drove the car for a month after I changed the gasket.

If the MAF was bad the engine wouldn't be able to rev past 3K but mine straight up will not start... also today got the starter checked too and pasted.

so far have got the coil, alt., battery, starter tested and past. plugs are new and gapped correctly. also got a new ecu running condition. all fuses are good and all grounds are clean.

BTW this is a S13 KA24DE

All you have to do is unplug the maf. It will take like 5 minutes of your time, and costs zero dollars. Im not saying thats its a guaranty that your maf is bad, but If anything it is at least worth a shot. Have you confirmed that there is spark with a spark tester, or did you just replace the coil and plugs.

Just so you know, my buddy's car was doing the exact same thing as your describing. Had spark, fuel, and no mechanical issues and still not starting. Unplugged the maf and it started right up.

unplugged it earlier today. made no difference. i tested the coil right when i got it with voltmeter and at a auto shop. and have pulled plugs two different times and turned it over got spark each time.

checked out my knock sensor for the hell of it and it was cracked 180* around it. this would definitely cause all my problem right? because how the sensor pulls different amount of timing, so if not working the ecu wouldn't be able to adjust for timing right?

Knock sensor wont cause you car to not start. I accidentally drove for a week with my knock sensor unplugged. The only difference it made was that power was way down, and it just felt weak. It is definitely worth replacing when you get the car running. I dont think you mentioned whether or not you performed a compression test. Maybe your new head gasket was faulty or something, or your head is warped, so it just didnt take. Did you check your block for warpage and machine it, or just replace the gasket.

pull you fuel pump fuse and try to start it because if you are trying to just crank it over and over its probably flooded also. Just a thought as it sounds like you have tried everything possibly

When i changed the gasket I had the head machined before install, didn't check warp on the deck. I am going to test the compression when i can get a tester.
