The pics I took on the road are an embarassment my camera did ok considering the pictures were taken in motion, my aim however is lacking. Something about driving with one hand and keeping an eye on the road whilst trying to eyeball photo's just didn't work for me

I know your car, but I completely missed it. I only realized you were there when I started going through the pics in my friend's digi and saw a black S14 with black meshies, but this was at the very end of the BBQ, and you were gone by then.

Thanks to all that came out... first year was only 35-40 cars, 2nd year was 50 cars, last year was 60 cars, and this year I think we broke 90 cars or so...
My apologies for the BBQ line being slow, as the "island" in the middle of where we had parked originally had a BBQ grill and a couple of benches, but those were removed and it was too late to have another person bring an extra grill. BTW to the individuals that almost ruined it for everyone, please think about what you were doing. One person was driving fast in the morning in the park, and when I confronted him his excuse for driving fast was that "my car has an open wastegate and the wastegate opened by itself when I reached a certain RPM". No names will be given out, but please try not to screw up the event for everyone else. And to the person that was letting their kid brother/cousin/friend drive around the park, that was stupid and irresponsible. I wished I had called the cops on you, but that would have been too much work for too little punishment, especially after me making it EXPLICITLY CLEAR that this type of behavior would not be tolerated. The more events I hold, the more paranoid I become of a few rotten apples screwing over everyone... hence the lack of events in general. And honestly I don't want to do this BBQ every year anymore, not after what the park rangers told me and after what could have happened. I guess people never learn. But it was a good event, no doubt. -alex |

Certainly looks like a great event. too Bad someS were not following the rules of the park and the meet.
One thing I see at almost all of these larger scale meets is folks missing each other. For those who want to stay in the shadows....that is not what the meets are about. We have some good S Florida action...but I go to them and only after 10 mins or so...do I figure out who the event coordinator is and people group off in groups of 3 to 6 and no one ends up meeting anyone too much as folks are trying to just be nice and not clown around shaking all the hands like a diplomat. The meets are about the cars and more importantly the people. Still..Only one person at the last meet I was at was on Zilvia to my knowledge and he was the event coordinator!! I would like to propose that someone go around and name-tag the cars with either a user Moniker or a number and do the badge thing..if that is not too much trouble. I would really like to see (based on the meets I participated in) some cohesion in knowing who...is who...because every meet I read about...was: "You were there?? damn I missed you..that was your car?, wish we could have got hooked up..etc.." I do not think it is asking too much to put a small placard on each car saying who it is ...even with a screen name...it would make for more people getting together. You guys may not have too much of that problem...but I see it here and I have a killer place to do a meet and if so..want to do it right.. I mean a horseshoe throw area is not a terrible idea to get people to meet each other actually. To drive 300 miles for a meet and only talk to a few cats and not even get their names is kinda lame..and I will be the first to admit..it takes time to get to know folks..and some of them (like the abusers) are better off left unknown and uninvited next time. My 2 centavas. Does this happen at most meets or is it just my imagination? |

ja..People are real good here too...we did not have a cookout (should have) at either of the two meets...Grinch brought sodas which was cool but it was definitly a small groupy thing. You know...Great RB26DETT install in your 240 dude..."yea"....and everyone just standing around.
I think it takes TIME down here to get to know folks. Tampa is a little drive (like 600 miles round trip to secret services) and the Miami Boys have the swaps galore..but it takes time to get to know those cats and really..I will take the time..but it is like..no one hangs up here in west palm...most of the car affridecios have 200K cars..and the 240's around here are daily driver beaters..but south in Boca and Lauderdale and Miami..the $hit gets heavy..I mean DETTS in cars...badazz. So it will take time. Remember, I am 44 and most of the cats at latest are like 26-31 (when I use to make all the dough) but it is encouraging nevertheless. I work, I come home. I work, home. Don't get out much due to West Palm is West Palm. To have some fun...I ride out somewhere where da partys at..this is a town of very wealthy folks and the kids drive S class benz's...the ricers are from down south..and the performance guys got 20G they can put into an engine and your $hit is unworthy. Don't dare drive a flat black car around here...you know. (mine looks good, factory clear coat no real uglys except rear hatch rustout) Like I say, It will take time..I just got some obsticals to overcome..or I could just come out there!. Something will break loose, I feel it. BTW, I got me a honey hole Parking lot for drifting. It is an old airfield that is nice and I go out there..I actually left a set of tires out there and rims because I got too many out there..no one goes there and they were there when I returned..and picked them up..cords and wires showing and all.. You can get stuff cheap here at times. Well I am happy you guys got some friends and great cars. It will get deeper as time goes on. Got the RX shop to attend for dyno purposes Wed..That way I can post a chart..finally. Post this one if I had a scanner..it is pretty phat.. Last edited by Bill Roberts; 08-25-2003 at 09:59 PM.. |

we got there really late. my friend said it was only 60 miles but it ended up being 120 miles away. thanks mickey.
everyone i talked to seemed really cool. i should have talked to more people but i am slightly anti-social. we ended up eating at a round table across the street. whatever you do, dont eat there. they were rude, and the cashier/manager tried to rip us off. |
