transmission grind?

I have a 1995 240sx that is a manual transmission swap and when i shift into second gear there sometimes is a grind but it only does it sometimes and mostly only does it when i downshift. I think the problem could be that the console the shift knob is on is still the automatic one and it just doesnt have enough room. Anybody know what could be up?

sorry man but it may be the synchro gears in the transmission. You say it happens sometimes, go ahead and find some 75-90 weight amsoil transmission fluid, and it will help.

Alright well whats the worst thing that could happen running a bad synchro? I'm not 100% though because its almost only when i downshift into second.

it cud be the synchro for that gear. tho it usually happens on upshift. It can happen on and off like mines does/did. do you feel a vibration coming thru the shifter?

If its downshifting its a synchro... Using good fluid will help for a while and so will rev matching but ofcourse getting synchros would be best...
