Yea I've seen tons of people use wood. Cheap and easy to replace and they are very strong depending on what you get.

All in Type 316 stainless tube.
Living by the ocean I try to do as much as I can in stainless.
Not entirely done yet there is still going to need to be bash bar added
and all the supports.

Awesome thread! I'm starting on my S13 this weekend; tired of my front end not fitting correctly from previous owners damage. The only difficult thing about my situation is the front 8" of the frame rails are donzo. I'm going to have to cut them off and fab up the frame rails or just make a tubular front crossmember where the tension rods mount. Should be fun. Will post pics when I'm done.

goals for the front end are to have a lightweight, removable, and replaceable unit while being able to have massive steering angle and shakotan ride height. Also ive never really welded before this so its quite a learning experience. Ill post an update when its done

This needs to be thought about way more often in tube setups. Mostly the bash bar portion though.

For those of you who run a crash bar, have you ever had a problem hitting like a speed bump with your bottom bar considering that the car goes low too.

Hey guys I need some help, I'm gathering materials to tube my s13 due to a twisted core support from a hit and run truck Lol, I gathered 18 feet of 1 3/4 inch tubing and I have my bender, is that the correct tubing size? Also I have the flip up headlights how would I mount them and get them to line up correctly? Also you guy are saying how I have to tube it and mount it in the right areas to prevent massize damage, that's my biggest problem where I am stuck at, is there any way one of you guys can highlight the mounting points of interest for me?

240sxKing,.. balls kind of in your court. If you have to completely replace the coresupport and headlight brackets,. you can just make brackets right off the tubing,...anywhere.

I had to do the same. Keep the hood mounted, and rig up the front bumper and just kinda mock it up accordingly.

Saw a few guys do pop ups, and had fixed positions at like 3 different heights. Up / sleepy / closed. Might be a cool idea too!

yeah man, I learned about removable front ends here on zilvia and made mine like that too. for working on the front of the engine or replacing a bent tube front.

still need to make headlight, fender, intercooler and radiator brackets and front bash bar. but here is my set up. core support is fully removable via 2 bolts recessed into the bottom of the tube so you can't see them
