Yea.
Most PBM IC owners with 180 fronts are always up. Thought about mounting the motor to the frame rail and doing a custom actuating arm (some guy here already did it) but I never put my headlights down anyway. And that would require some custom fab. Not worth it IMO. It's time and money better spent elsewhere. |

Installed my gauges last night. My buddy does camo paint on assault rifles and we thought it would look cool on my bezel.
Kinda looks like clouds in the pics, but that's just my shitty camera blending the silver/grey/white colors, it looks really cool in person. Now to get it all wired. Last edited by ryandriftingfat; 06-20-2013 at 12:30 PM.. |

Great build, I like the 3 pics of the truck being loaded with parts.
Congrats on the house as well, best thing a person can do is buy a house. No one to complain about anything you do, no rent, and its land in your name |

Finished plumbing everything last night and put the front end all back together.
It's been a long week already, needed to drink some beers. Trying to get it wired next week, we'll see. Might hit up Jordan for a baller harness if my taxes are OK. I'll decide by this weekend. Final things to do: -double check / tighten everything front to back -adjust rear camber -lower front -make a mesh grille for PS cooler -add some extra hose clamps to exhaust wrap -missing a hose clamp on rad hose -vacuum line for BOV -vacuum line from charge piping to boost controller -roll fenders Last edited by ryandriftingfat; 06-20-2013 at 12:30 PM.. |

So here are a few more pics of some of the tricky things I did - basically all of these ideas came from other build threads, both here, ziptied and some personal blogs.
So I owe you guys for some of these ideas, and here is my implementation. Relocated fuel filter to get it off the strut tower. I have seem some dudes put it on the back of the intake manifold, but I couldn't get the bends in the fuel line right to make that viable. I found that down low with some slight line bending was better. I also found a random standoff with a rubber grommet to keep the return line in place. Relocated power steering reservoir, flipped brake booster, tucked booster & clutch lines, shielded / taped brake booster and boost controller mounted here. Basically a mixture of a bunch of other peoples' jobs that I've seen. SO glad I did, it looks a lot better hidden up here. Tough to get everything aligned perfectly though. Moved all wiring plugs to the back of the intake manifold. All vacuum lines and gauge wiring is run through the intake manifold. Those two little intakes in the manifold that are fed from the rear of the intake side of the valve cover are capped. That line is now run to the catch can. The center section of the fuel rail is also removed and bypassed. Mount for the intake I made from spare parts. I wanted it up high so I could get the power steering cooler attached without kinking the lines. PS cooler lines attached. I filled up the cooler with fluid before attaching the lines. More to come as I go along. I have to work tonight so it'll probably be a few days before I have any updates. Last edited by ryandriftingfat; 06-20-2013 at 12:29 PM.. |

I read about your build a while ago on sillbeer. A domain that you use to own. Nice build. Keep up.

Holy hell, almost a year. Cliffs: The car runs. It drifts. It has a roll cage. I still haven't painted it.
So, where did I leave off? Rant ahead: ********************************** I got everything mechanically set as far as I could take it. Needed basically wiring and a little bit of fabrication to mount my oil cooler. Seems simple right? Yeah, trying to get that done sparked a clusterfuck. I finished the car in February, didn't drive it until September - it took longer to get wired than it took me to disassemble, paint and reinstall everything. My faith in shops abilities to do what they say and actually come through has been seriously beaten down. ********************************** So here are some of the catch up pics. This is the dash / wiring situation when it got started (June/July 2012) Mount for new fuse box and relays: Switch panel: Kill switch: Switch panel progress: Fuse box / relay panel progress: Wiring just about done: Oil cooler mounted: Oil lines: And with that, the car started. Had a few issues with startup but the shop I had it at was able to handle those pretty quickly. So now that it's running, now what? 6 months of doing nothing to this car means 6 months of collecting cash. Time for a cage! Off to Battle Version for a full cage, alignment, fender roll and corner balance. Alex and his crew banged out my car super fast and on point. I want to say less than 3 weeks, maybe less than 2. We did some donuts. Picked it up a couple weeks later and drove it home. That was nice and all but I had to paint the cage right away due to the humidity at the time. NEVER AGAIN will I paint a cage in the middle of summer. So here are a few pics of the basically finished product: Luckily we finished this all a few weeks before All Star Bash and didn't have to rush around to make it. Loaded the car up on the trailer and drove two hours out to Willow Springs with no real problems. All Star Bash was a blast. Seeing some of the long time dudes again after so many years was a trip. Oh yeah, drifting. Car ran fine really. Ran out of gas was probably the biggest issue I had. Came home, fixed a couple things and I've just basically been driving it once a week, haven't had to fix or troubleshoot much of anything. Runs really good. So what now? Justdrift season opener next weekend. Can't wait. Oh christ, I need paint too. I was going to have money for paint but my roommate moved out a couple months ago and I had to cover his piece but that's going to change soon so hopefully after JD I can get the aero mounted and painted. Still looking for a shop in OC that can do general service - some fab, wiring, etc. would be great. EDIT: Oh yeah forgot, at ASB on the second day my ebrake had been sticking up. No good. I let Ruiner drive my car and this happened. Last edited by ryandriftingfat; 09-25-2013 at 06:58 PM.. |

Hey man, nice to see you here building another s13 and
sharing your knowledge with us What is the size of that battery, I wonder how it would fit in spare wheel compartment or on the floor behind the driver seat |

I want to say it's an Odyssey PC680 or 980 or something. (EDIT: PC925) (EDIT2: just realized you probably meant dimensions - here you go: http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc925.htm )
Should fit either place, we put it there for weight reasons. Location is kind of a preference thing, I don't love it in that position but I am not going to lose sleep over it. |

Name of the paint? Dunno. I basically told them to take 2003 350Z burnt orange and make it just slightly more orange & copper. Not really worried about it being exact. Quote:
And I just bought this stupid thing too, old truck is for sale. EDIT: just fixed all the pics too, had to change hosts on my blog and lost my media library folder structure. |
