Differences in Oil Pump Gears?
Went to go install the billet oil pump gears on my race car's engine. Found that they were a different size! Suck! Not sure what to do now, lol.
Application listed is the SR20DET, which is what I have. The outer ring diameter is 4mm smaller than OEM! Anyone else hear of 81mm vs 77mm SR20 gears? Thickness is different as well (Reimax is 10mm, factory is 9.4mm).

Well, found that Reimax only makes gears for the S14/S15 oil pumps, not the S13 SR. When I bought these, they were listed for all RWD SRs... guess not.

I think over the years and various configurations, there have been 5-8 different pump designs between FWD, RWD and 4WD SR20.
So the answer is; not necessarily (as the OP has figured out). Example: SR20VE oil pump varies from a standard SRDET oil pump although they have the same external dimensions (if you look at them side to side internally, the differences are significant) |
