Help!
Replaced the thermostat, water pump and radiator. The thermostat keeps going up and down, still. There was rust in the radiator (I think the radiator is around 7 years old). Two different mechanics told me to coolent flush the whole system, replace the temp sending unit, do the compression test and leak down test that it might me the head gasket. OMG, I just put in a newer engine about a couple of years ago, a '97. I'm at my wits end.
A month ago I had to weld a piece, otherwise I would have had to replace the intake supposedly. Replaced a couple of hoses, a lot of part are original, I'm the second owner, had it for about 7 years. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help. |

lol, you can almost hear the panic in your post. Slow down, how did this all start?
Quick and easy way to find out if your HG is blown is with one of these kits (found at NAPA, part number in the pic). If the liquid turns brown, you're S.O.L.

help
The thermostat keeps going from below the middle all the way to the top. I put it in neutral sometimes when I'm driving so the gauge can come down. I down dare take it on the freeway because I know I couldn't. The strange part is I drove like 13 miles in the am with no a/c and it was not doing it, but then I drove a few hours later just a few miles and if I turn on the a/c or go at a higher speed it starts going up. There are no leaks, but when I pull over and turn off the engine I can hear bubbling in that plastic container under the hood with the water in it and I can hear water going through the engine. The engine light keeps coming on every time after I replace something, the mechanic makes the engine light go away, but the problem is still the same and comes back. Oh, and I had the car running in park for an hour and the thermostat was fine, after the mechanic replaced a part, so we would think it's all right, but as soon as I drive off things start happening. Oh, and I did pass the smog test a week ago (I don't know if that's relevant)
