Cold Start Problem Help!!
Alright I have a 1998 Nissan 240SX. When I first got it it was automatic and I converted everything to a fivespeed. I know the usual cold start problems when doing this and it was fine for a long while I just needed to tap the gas when I first started it. But now for a good five minutes on a cold start the motor runs real bad and lags until optimal temperature. Also the tranny fluid is taking a while to warm up and the tranny shifts hard and rocks until warm. I was thinking maybe coolant temperature sensor?
What I used on the 5 speed swap and still am using : -Stock OBD2 Auto ECU and Harness -S13 OBD1 Tranny -CEL for Crank Angle Sensor since the S13 tranny does not have it -Motor has 65K on it. Tranny has 73K What could be the problem here and what are ways that I can fix it and have my car run perfect again. FYI the swap was done by me about a year and a half ago. Let me know if you need anymore info on the car. Thanks to all for your help and time! |

what is you idle when you are cold running? i forget exactly but it should be around 1200 . the air regulators only role is for giving more air to allow a higher idle when car cold. unplug or squeeze hose to see if it is opening up and providing extra air when car cold.

check your temp sensor it could be falty that could cause the hard start issue and just add some atf to your trans that should thin out the gear oil and help your hard shift problem

I'm not ready to remove the intake manifold just yet. I want some help on how to start the car without having to be there to press a little on the gas for a second. I have a remote start and cant put it to use unless I'm in the drivers seat to tap the pedal.
