Consult port

Ive searched and searched and haven't come up with a real solid answer. I'm swapping my 1991 S13 with a S13 redtop. Im using the FRsport wiring guide. With the dash connector, If i just go color for color on every wire from the SR harness to the KA dash plug will my consult port work? if not what do I have to do to make it work? one day I plan on running nistune and I hear this is needed.

How many times do I need to say that colour for colour doesn't work all the time.

You need to go find a pinout for the SR F1 plug, such as the one I posted that describes each wire for the CONSULT.

Then go find the FSM for the shell. Find out what each wire does. Then connect to the SR F1 plug as appropriate.

Ok Ive done all the research, and Im pretty sure I can safely say. If you have a 1991-1994 s13 and your using a redtop sr20 then you can go wire for wire on the dash connector and the consult port will work.

Download this picture. It's very big but extremely useful: http://www3.telus.net/kreen/wiring/wh150dpi.png

Specifically look at the F1/M53 connector that goes next to the ECU plug. See also the M3 plug that goes to the CONSULT port.

Compare the M3 diagram with this picture: http://www.ecutalk.com/images/consult_car.jpg

Check to make sure each wire functions as you think it should.

Go read this thread: http://zilvia.net/f/engine-tech/2930...ing-guide.html

Specifically look at the first pinout described below the picture.

Compare colour and function with what you found above.

In this case the colours for the CONSULT are the same, but this will not work for other wires on the F1/M53 connector, and certainly for any connector on the engine harness.

Thats exactly what i did, But i didn't find that nice big picture the first time so I had to print 3 pages and tape them together lol. but whatever same effect. I guess im lucky to have the right year car and motor that everything should be pretty simple.

Yes, S13 redtop SR into twin cam S13 is the easiest SR swap into any S car.
