101 simple questions...

So I am finally going to be heading out to the track this year.

BUT I have never really tacked before so I have a bunch of maintenance questions. I will be using an S14 with an S15 SR in it...

1) How often do I need to change my oil? Every 8 hours of racing time (Would be every two events for me)?

2) How often do I chance my oil filter?

3) How often do I need to change my intake filter (It's a cone filter)?

4) What is a good tire pressure to START at? I know I will change it as I learn, ect.. but what would be a good baseline? My rims are 17x9.5 RPF1's with 275 Yokohama A005's.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Oils & filters depend on conditions

The tire question is soooo vauge ,buutt start at 28 cold, then see how they grow and bleed down from there this is just a starting point. You will have to tune to suite your own needs.

Hope that helps

I dont remember of the top of my head but isnt the 005 a full slick if so Im very familiar with the 000,and 001. That 28 # is a good street tire start.Slicks are another ball game

what kind of track?

autocross? road racing timed stuff? drift?

each one has things that need to be focused on and paid attantion too more.

I would change oil every event if its drift.
all fresh fluids, and drive on em for a few days.
make sure everything feels snug in the car.
battery tie down.
tires are good and have tread.
lug nuts are snug.

I would also look for leaks, and clean the engine.
Then when you get back from the event, go over the whole car.
and with a clean engine, you can see if there are leaks anywhere

have fun.

Can i toss a question in regarding a drift track setup? How often would you have change tires? I plan on EVENTUALLY buying 2 spare wheels and tires to dedicate to track.

Gracias.

^^^ c'mon you should be able to answer that yourself. Tire wear is very obvious. You should check your rears after every run, unless they were new from start then you can go a few runs before you need to inspect.

I hope that question was a joke.if not poor zilvia!!!!
