Street Car Shootout @ Route 66; Saturday June 4th (PM!!)

AN EVENT RESERVED FOR THE ALL OUT STREET-CAR
Since it's inception back in 1990, the Battle of the Imports has provided an outlet for street racers to get off the street and onto the racetrack. "This is where everyone started their racing," commented Frank Choi. "Kubo, Papadakis, Bautista, Fuchs and many many others took their racing off the streets, onto the track and began their racing careers with the Battle of the Imports." With the evolution of time and technological advances, these racers have paved the way for others to one day follow.

The Battle of the Imports has always catered to the street car and has accomodated racers with four classes to consider. The Street-Tuner class is reserved for the rotary and six-cylinder RWD and 4-cylinder AWD vehicles, Street-Comp is reserved for 4-cylinder turbo/supercharged FWD vehicles, Street-Performance is reserved for 4-cylinder naturally aspirated vehicles with engine swaps and Street-Stock is reserved for 4-cylinder naturally aspirated vehicles where engine swaps are prohibited.

This June 4, 2005, racers from all over the Midwest will converge at Route 66 Raceway to compete for cash, contingency and giant size trophies in an event where the spotlight is on all the street cars. New for this event is a class for street bikes to compete for awards (more information to follow). For racers, including street bikes, wishing not to compete, racers can compete in the Fun-Run Challenge where awards will be issued to the racers who completes the most passes down the track. "Run it til the wheels fall off," commented Choi. "Sometimes, racers just want to run down the track as much as they can. Why not reward the person who shows the most endurance?"

In addition to the Street-Car Shootout, fans will also be treated to the Import Racer! Magazine carshow where over 120 awards (previously 68) are up for grabs. New classes have been added including classes for late model domestic V8's. Audiophiles will also be able to compete in either the Db Drags SPL or USACi SQ stereo competition for valueable points. The action continues with a multiple activites happening on stage such as a dance crew competition, b-boy showcase, open mic challenge and the popular Finestmodels.com swimsuit competition.

Also new to this event is the addition of gASSoline alley where fans can meet import model sensations Nikia Esco, Joyce Lex and others. Fans can take pictures and purchase souvenirs as well. All of this is happening on Saturday evening, June 4, 2005 at Route 66 Raceway. Tickets are on sale through Ticketmasters. Tickets can also be purchased at the front gate on the day of the event.
