S14 Harness - S15 CoilPack Question

Hey guys. Got a question for you gurus.

I have a S14 Kouki notchtop SR20 in my 240sx. I have a brand new S15 valve cover and set of S15 coilpacks I want to install.

As most of you already know, the S14 and S15 valvecovers are visually identical with the only difference being the size of the coilpack openings. Bigger in the S14, smaller in the S15. Which is why I aquired S15 coilpacks to use with the S15 valvecover.

Now what I didnt know at the time was that the S15 harness lacks an igniter chip. Apparently they are "built-in" to the coilpacks.

The question I have is - Can I still utilize the S15 coilpacks on the S14 harness, which still has its igniter chip wired in? Is it plug and play without issue? And has anyone here actually done it? Looking for experience if possible, not guesses or opinions. Thanks.

You have to do some rewiring in order for it to work. Remove the S14 igniter for starters. I have no other knowledge of the S14 v S15 coil pack harness. Break out the wiring diagrams.

My guess is its gonna be just like the S1 RB to LS coilpack conversion. You'd have to bypass the igniter chip to get them to work.

I've looked into this since I have a Kouki S14 SR and am running an S15 ECU. It's not plug and play, but pretty strait forward. To convert to S15 ignition you need to:

1) Acquire S15 Valve Cover and Coilpacks
2) Bypass the ignitor, splice wires together.
3) Splice in something called an "Ignition Condenser" - you T off the power wire and connect the other side to ground. It's basically a capacitor that gives the coils a little extra juice. Use part # 28351-89901 This is same part as on the G35/350Z and S14 KA engine.
4) Purchase S15 coil pack harness from wiring specialties, or re-wire the coil pack harness, the pinout at the coil packs are different (pins 1 & 2 are flipped).

This was my list after comparing wiring diagrams for both S14 and S15. I'm currently still running S14 ignition because I haven't come across a good deal on S15 valve cover and coil packs yet.
