bump sticking out on back of brake pads??
im putting pads on the rears of my stock 95. on the back of the brake pad that faces the piston (with the four notches in it) there is a bump or whatever (see pics) does this bump go into one of the notches on the piston? i would think that the piston spins as it comes out and if the bump was in there....? but if the bump isnt in one of the notches than it doesnt fit evenly.
both the old and new ones have it (theres actually two im talking about the big one in the middle) so should i just shave/file them off? this is what the old one looks like. you can see where the piston was pushing against the bump, i dont know if they were installed correctly or not i just bought the car.

yeah on page 15 theres a circle drawn but it doesnt say to line it up with a notch... does this make sense?

no its not that you guys were slow, the noise was getting on my nerves and i just wanted to get it done before dark...
but now the piston on the drivers side isnt screwing in like the other one did, ive got the tool and everything... garbage

Yea nissan has those weird "Turn in" or "Twist down"??? type calipers in the rear. They have to line up with the notch.
But, I just opened up my brakes on my newly purchased 95 to find that someone had installed them wrong. They just slapped the pad in there with caliper clamping down on them, and the bump wasn't in the groove... Strange thing is... after I fixed it, the pedal dipped farther in than before, which seems a given. Honestly, i liked it the other way, it seemed to make the pedal a little harder... My opinion. Maybe a cheap, easy, and possibly stupid brake "upgrade" for those who like cheap diy's lol. I drove it for a couple months like that though, so I doubt it's highly important |
