These people are the same breed that move next door to an Airport and complain about the noise.

In the article it states "that they did not know the property was for sale." I had heard that they were one of the ones trying to buy the track. Also they state that the helecopter was flying So low over there house...why did they not video tape it? They must have a video recorder. Maybe because it was not true.
I am sorry I have no remorse for people dumb enough to move next to a track or airport, or freeway or whatever...It was there first, it had been there forever out in the boondocks away from everyone...move next to it Fail! |

the article says that they are being questioned if they are stupid for building next to the track , but because they felt that the odds were with them that the track would be shut down or rarely used , that they would be satisfied with its use . soooo . . . the odd were with them and they took the gamble , and they lost that bet that the track would be shut down . get over it , cut your losses , and get the hell out of dodge . just my two cents . and how could you not expect people to be livid that they took away the place to use their fifty thousand dollar macines and partake in their hobby ? idiots

Just like everyone said... What do you expect when you build a house near a racetrack. It doesn't matter if it looked like it was operating or not... Someone is bound to use the track.

What's up BIASED article.
Jesus could they be more slanted? Maybe the track owner is a dick. And maybe he needs to get his permits in order. But there's no maybes about when you move in a few feet from a race track, you shouldn't complain about noise. |

Alright, so they read comments about death threats. Well then they should read comments about what closing Altamont means to us. This is complete bullshit. reading all this trash. I recently raced at Altamont Motorsports Park (AMP) and it seriously was the funnest time I've ever had. It was the 24 hours of Lemons and it went on into the night but ended at 930-945, and everyone was told to leave the park as soon as they were packed. The lights weren't aimed towards their house. Thats anti productive. The purpose of those lights are to light the course, in which it did. AMP had signs posted that drifters and drifting is no prohibited. Why target drifters ? Its a bunch of shit. You're telling me a big block chevy is gonna be quieter than a 2 liter turbo ? Turbos act as mufflers naturally.
The whole time I was at this event I would look up at their house and just slap myself in amazement. AMP is built in a natural bowl. Hills all around the track. Sound shouldn't be a problem to any of the neighboring houses. All city officials have to do is get their ass out of the office and notice that AMP is in the best place possible to have a racetrack. Ofcourse, this has gone all to shit because the Rivards had to build their shack looking house on the top one of the hills that protects AMP from noise. I'm genuinely sorry for the Rivards in both ways. I feel sorry that they are subjected to the noise, but I also feel sorry that they threw out their concerns that there was a racetrack sitting right below their noses. What the fuck do you think would happen. Its a racetrack. Yah yah you did your research and there weren't many events , but that still doesn't negate the fact that there was a racetrack right below your house. You coulda built your house on the otherside of the hill like everyone else..... but ? No you disregarded the fact that there was a track and you are paying for it. GET OVER IT ! I hate how they take it out on drifters. Tire smoke tire screeching? uhhhhh..... thats in every race. Meh I'll post more about this crap I'm getting off work. Honestly this is bullshit. A track like AMP is so multipurpose as a track. BLAH just ruins my day thinking about the bullshit we get. Also, I want to know who their "drifting" expert is. I hate how we get bullshit for being drifters. At this non drift event, my drifting ass passed a lot of drifting haters. Next time i do another 24 hours of lemons event imma put on the rear bumper " You were just passed by a drifter." Its funny how much more versatile a lot of drifters are. The 24 hours of lemons is straight wheel to wheel racing and there were numerous of times where I'd see people start sliding and over correct and look like an idiot. I definately think people would become better drivers if they understood the concept of drifting and knew how to apply it. Because even in grip driving you can use 0 counter to be fast. |

The rivards can suck my sweaty nuts. Because of them I had to close my business. Not to mention the whole import industry in the bay area has been effected financially.

I would be careful what you post that may be viewed as threats.
From Google Earth it appears that Rivardspeed is bigger than Altamont. So he bought this land and bulldosed it in 2000 to make a dirtbike track. They have had the property since 1999. Yet the house does not appear in the 2000 pics. Only a trailer. Did he build the house before or after he met his wife? This seems to be an excellent view of the track: In the motox pics the wonderful windmills the wife speaks of are on in the opposite direction of that window. If they built that house for the windmills it seems to be on the wrong side of the lot and 180* in the wrong direction. Sorry if these issues have been covered I just started reading this today.

Im not threatening anyone. Just posting a funny fictional pic. But hey if I met him face to face you never know.
In case you guys dont know the Rivards tried to buy altamont to use it as a personal track. Altamont refused and thats why they are so butt hurt.

I don't think the report was biased.
either way it pointed out they same thing everyone is saying. 1000 feet from your front door is a race track, that has been there since the 60's. Can't wait for a neighbor to get pissed at the noise coming from his track in his back yard. |

See thats the thing I want everyone to visualize. Altamont is kinda like sekia hills or whatever. Its built in a natural bowl. Hills surrounding the whole track. No sound would ever escape.... But the Rivards had to be dumbasses and build their house on the top of the hill where the sound can travel up. They have so much land they shoulda though about it and put the dirt bike tack on the back of their house and had the house built on the front of the hill...... Then they wouldn;t have any problems with lights or noise.

The law will prevail and Altimont will remain open. The Rivards don't understand that altimont is "grandfathered in", if you don't understand what that means pick up some law books.Grandfathered is a term in law meaning if it is there before it was written in law it gets to stay. Altimont was around before 1972, so the Rivards are wrong, and the board of supervisors will just laugh at them. I mean really there is only 2, out of how many supervisors that join there sense of invalid opinion? Really it's laughable.
Really how stupid can you be to build your home next to a race track, then accuse the owner of hate full malice and ridicule. John Cohndren isn't a bad guy that the media makes him out to be. He is just a business man trying to make a dollar and let people enhjoy entertainment at the same time. I don't blame the fact that the Rivards paint this portrait of him being a bad wicked man. I am a business man myself, now if you tried to take the money out of my pocket that feeds the system would I be happy.... Fuck no, the Rivards need to die a slow ignorant death, the same ignorance that made them think they did a enough research when they bought there home.. Really when the Realtor sold the Rivards the land he was probably thinking"this is the biggest gullible group of suckers ever". Really the Rivards should sue there realtor , not the county or Altimont. Besides have you zoomed out on the google map of altimont????LOL Altimont is in the middle of fucking no where and people decide to build next to it... Some people are just born dumb.... Really what next, are people going to start building next to infinion raceway and start complaining? LOL BTW look at the picture of the Rivards closely, I think they are brother and sister.. SERIOUSLY!! |

This is a case of coming to the nuisance.
They knew it was there. They got their land for cheap because of its location. That would be like buying land next to the Harris feedlot on Highway 5 and then complaining about the smell. I just hope the track hired a good lawyer. |
