Question KA vs SR

I'm looking at getting a 240 hatch and using it for auto-xing and circuit racing. I know you can slap a turbo on a KA and get power. But in the long run if I'm looking into time-attack and circuiting it, can a built N/A KA push plenty of power needed? I know the SR20DET can be built and the turbo can be replaced for bigger, but with coming out of corners and hitting the gas, the chance of sliding increases from the extra torque. I know technique and getting used to driving the car will def improve cornering skill with a turbo. But if we take out technique and skill factor, would a fully built KA push enough power to run relatively low lap times?
And for everyone that will go into technique and suspension and all that, I'm not concerned about that topic right now. I would like to know about the engine info. All that I've been reading up on and doing research.
--Thanks

I think it all depends on the course...if its a short course where throttle response is key, I think a NA KA will be adequate with the the proper mods to make it more responsive. Stock KAs are fucking slugs getting up on the RPMs.
