1995 KA24DE IAT sensor -- do I need it?

When I got my harness w/ my engine, what I think is the IAT is missing. This is the sensor that sits before the MAF, and reads ambient air temps. My engine and electronics are '95.

How dependent is the ECU on this sensor, and what will running without one cause? Right now, the car starts up and runs, but I don't know if this can cause a problem down the line.

If I *do* need it, does anyone know where I can get just the adapter that sits between the MAF and a cone filter? I have an Injen S14 intake, but it didn't come with that piece to hold the IAT.

So you know, this is in an S12 chassis, but the harness and engine were running together on the S14 before it was pulled and transplated into my car (I know because I saw it running).

OBD purposes only, it does affect engine operation or performance.

No you will not. Please do not spew garbage unless you have actual proof. Go read an FSM and then come back to apologize for not knowing what in blue fuck you're talking about.

And there it is. Now if you were running a standalone system with it's own IAT, yes, you would need it. So please show us, 952jz240sxr, where the OP states he's running a standalone. Maybe it's you who should paying attention.
