93 Hatch/97 motor will it work? How?
Hay folks I picked up this project for my nephew.
93 Black Hatch. I had, what I thought, a good KA24de motor in my garage. I cracked open the valve cover to lube the cams prior to installation. I damaged the gasket and was at the store when I noticed that the valve cover gasket for a 93KA was not right for my cover. I asked for a 96 gasket and it was a match. I never came across, in reading, that there were differences. There are. The power steering and bracket are different. The distributer- is different connector instead of 2. After engine installation; it would rotate, but not fire. I rechecked the compression, reset the timing, Not firing I discovered there were unconnected vacuum lines in the back- Research showed a different configuration for vacuum lines between generations. Worse yet- my wire harness was missing the 2 connectors for the EGR system. I Blocked off the EGR system with an Enjuku Kit. At this point the engine rotates freely but will not fire. I have 3 sets of injectors all were wet in the fuel rail. My plugs smell wet. I can only think that I might need a 95 and up ECU because of my distributor now only needing one plug. Any help would be greatly welcome. Thanks. |
