Car will run fine for 10-15 minutes, then dies and wont start
I was having problems with my 240 leaving me stranded in parking lots/on the side of the road. It would bog down and die once it warmed up. Or if i drove some where, turned the car off, and went to start the car again, it wouldn't start up. It might start and run for a few seconds but it would quickly sputter and die.
I then did the following - new injectors - fuel filter - spark plugs/wires - emissions/ vacuum line deletion - 4-2-1 header I thought it might be a fuel issue so I hoped the fresh fuel filter and injectors would solve my problem. I got my car running again after the things I listed and a few more little things and I was convinced I had solved my problem. I have been taking it for short test drives through out this past week to feel it out and see if i fixed it. I finally decided to go a little bit harder/farther today and she died on me again!! as i was pulling into my neighborhood. Usually you can let her sit for about 20 minutes and she'll start back up and you can drive farther but not this time. she would fire up for just a few seconds and then sputter and die again does anybody know what could be causing my car to die and not start back up? it seems like she only dies once she gets warmed up... I'm tired of her randomly dying on me i'm thinking its a sensor or something fuel related... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks |

First if all what motor do you have? Second, does the car smell like fuel when trying to start the car again? Also, have you checked your CTS? (Coolant temperature sensor) next time your car doesn't want to start unplug your CTS and see if it fires up afterwards

I think it could be the idle. When the car is cold, the fast idle cam is open, propping the throttle open to let air in. Once it's warmed up, it closes, and lets your IACV-AAC and idle stop screw take over.
Does is still die/not start if u give it throttle? Here is a very good thread on setting your idle correctly. Idle Problems ? this worked for me SR20DET - Hardtuned.net |
