yeah, you can rebuild it..
You need to get locking needle nose pliers because the c-clip is a bitch to get out. Keep the wheels and the nut holding it together in the same spot in relation to one another. Another thing to take into consideration is is the turbo rebuildable. Could have searched all of this |

there wasnt that much out there on the reliability of these kits, or any first hand expirence. Sure i can rebuild a turbo at home with simple hand tools, but i think there is a reason that shops charge soo much to do it. here are a few negitive articles i found, make me not want to waist my time on a rebuild myself...... eBay Guides - BEWARE of the Turbo Rebuild Kit myth How-To: Rebuild your T28 Turbo! - Drifting forum - Driftworks |

Im seriously thinking about a gt2871r. which is an upgrade to the s15 turbo, but still bolt on. Its also 1200$ as opposed to the 800$ for the gt28r, but i know im going to want the power later on. Im really stuck on this one.

The rebuild kits should work fine unless the turbine shaft is too worn down. I you do rebuild, I would pay the $30-$50 at a turbo shop to have them balance it for you.

ive rebuilt a few. its time consuming. its not hard. just keep everything clean and neat. lay everything out exactly how its supposed to be. but you dont know 100% that the turbo is rebuidable until you start digging into it. better option, just buy a new one. they are cheap.
