wiring harness female ecu clip? do they even make thoes?
i keep thinking that at some point someone on some forum posted up some model numbers for a clip that would mate up to the ecu clip on the wiring harness. like the part that is normally built into the ecu. reason i'm wondering is because i just spent 400.00 bucks on a brand new harness from nissan and i dont feel like cutting it up right away to do my megasquirt. the harness is a 97-98 sr20det the ones with the big white ecu clip and code "NA" on the ecu, just like the s15's
also is there anyone around here that has installed a megasquirt on a sr20? just had a few questions about the cas, coil packs, and vvt or if its even possible. |

THE MEGA TUUUNE!!
it'd be way easier to tap the signals you need the mega jizz to alter than to make a jumper harness like a honda guy with an obd2 harness running an obd1 ecu... it's kinda tough for you too that typically any info, diagrams, and pinouts you'll find for an s14.....are all for a WC ecu.....and even those are almost impossible to find now. but since you have a harness for an NA, some important pins are in a different spot on the ecu plug..... so unless you're VERY familiar with nissan wiring, you're gonna have a hard time deciphering your signals unless you do continuity tests to deduce your important signals one by one....which you CAN do. here's my opinion now. has ANYONE on here ever met a tuner who enjoyed tuning megasquirt over like a power fc or something like that?...cause every other tuner i've talked to about how they feel about megasquirt, it's the same, it's a piece of shit. megasquirt came from some GA Tech students who were given an assignment which was to make a computer that would run a car.....so you have their successful science project. i'm not saying it won't work.....but i am saying, my opinion of em is they're junk that no tuner enjoys fooling with. sorry i can't be more positive about your predicament, but i hope you get it worked out. Dave

If you have the old ecu, open it, and desolder the harness connector from it... Hot air is the easiest way... then you solder a wire at each pin you need... It's not that bad to do... This is how I did my Breakout Box for SR... took me about 2 hours to do it.
Frank P.S. I don't have to tell you that your ECU won't be usable after that, eh? |

Z U L8R -i'm pretty experienced when it comes to s14 harnesses, i doubt i will run into much trouble finding the few wires i will need and then jumping off the eccs relay and coil relay. -i'm going megasquirt because it costs $250.00, has 2 step launch control, antilag, map capable ($16.00), ebc capable, and will autotune ignition and fuel provided there is a wb02 and a knock sensor. |
