1uz swap with A/C (swaps with a/c in general)

Ok so I get it most 240 drivers are drifters, maybe even grip guys but it seems that no one includes A/C when they do their swaps. I understand that A/C robs you of power on the track, spinning the accessory even though it is not in use at the time is unnecessary mass being moved and carried around on the track. Less weight equals a faster car. So I have a few questions:

• For those of you that delete A/C and live in hot climates how are you getting your car to the track?
• Do you drive you car daily or just going to and from the track?
• Do you wish you had included A/C?
• Was including A/C to cost prohibitive for the swap that you did?

It is way too hot here in Atlanta not to have A/C especially if you want to enjoy your car on a daily basis. I’m preparing for a 1uz swap and I’m including the A/C because I want to drive this car frequently, every stinking day to be precise.

• For those of you that have included A/C to your swaps specifically 1uz drivers; how difficult or expensive was it to include or have A/C put included?
• How much of the A/C install were you able to complete yourself
• How much of the 240 A/C hardware was kept and what was disposed of for 1uz parts in this portion of the swap?

Most people try to reuse the ka a/c components but modify the braket so it fits the new engine.

That's probably easier than trying to use the a/c system that came with the new engine. Especially if its a different make

Tank, if you end up going through with this start to finish; a writeup would be really nice.

USDM AC system adapter brackets are plentiful for SR thanks to Codyace... however for 1UZ, as stated you will probably have to get the 1UZ compressor fittings welded onto the 240SX lines; then have the lines themselves modified to get between the firewall & compressor & filter-drier to firewall.

Not an impossible task by far, but may be kind of a PITA here & there as you go about solving the issues as they arise.

Would like to see this... and it could stand to help quite a few people out down the road if properly documented~

Sorry to say my fab skills are non-existent and I will not have time to do the swap or the A/C myself. My family dominates my time so I and taking it to a shop to have the swap and A/C done. The shop told me that the A/C will be totally custom work and that it will cost me between $500-$1000. Good thing is the swap with the A/C is all within budget so I will be moving forward soon.

I was thinking that if someone could tell me how to or show me what is needed I could determine if I could save some money on the A/C part of this swap. I know someone may say “the way to save on the A/C part of the swap is to not get it connected” but that will not fly here in Atlanta it is just too darn hot. I will check CodyAce to see what they may have. No matter what happens I will take lots of pictures.

The money is saved by sourcing out as many of the parts as you can so you are only paying the fabricator for time, not parts.

I didn't do any of my fab work either.

I hate to do this, but im reviving this thread. im about to begin on my 1uz swap and was wondering how in the heck I was gonna run a/c with the new motor. my original plan was to not even worry about having a/c bc I haven't ran it on my car for the two years ive had it. it really just doesn't bother me. BUT... here is why I am now wondering about this all.. my dad recently got a new job and it is making my family have to move to a hotter state.(yes, im only 19 and still live with my parents) so that is my reason for reviving this thread. any new information on this by chance??

Its pretty simple, fabricate lines, wire it up.

If you have to ask, you probably need to have someone or a shop do it, should probably start looking for a good shop/fabricator wherever you'll be.

yeah, I don't have any experience with fabrication. so youre definitely right. but I was referring mainly to the guy that started the thread or anyone else that is running a 1uz swap so maybe they could supply pictures so I had something to go by.

You can always run a dual-40 A/C system.

As far as the track, just install air-vents.
