Is an hks “gt1” 50mm wastegate still up to par ?
Hello fellow zilvians,
Found a good deal on a old school 50mm Hks wastegate. Kinda silly I’m considering to even buy this but at a decent price plus me being a sucker for old jdm stuff, I’d pull the trigger. Have an rb25 and plan on running up towards 320whp - 400whp I on my setup. Since this is a 50mm wastegate would it really lack on the responsiveness? What other cons would this display on my power goals? My prioritiy is set on a responsive powerband for drifting. If any one could point a noob in the right direction I’d greatly appreciate it! |

What you should be more concerned with is the application. 50mm is pretty large and is typically only needed on larger displacement engines running lower boost pressures.
I have a 35mm on my ka24 and it does fine o 8 psi of boost. 50mm for me would be overkill. If I was running an LS1 with 8psi I might need a 50mm wg. |
