need help with auto 2 5spd swap
Ok so im lifting my car up now to try and pull out the trans and put the 5 spd in, so the problem i have is, how high should the bottom of the car should be from the ground? im about 16 inchs from the frame.
the 5 spd trans bellhouse is about 15 inchs but my jack is about 6 inchs tall. and lifting the car even higher is iffy on jack stands. if anybody has done this swap and knows how far it needs to be off the ground please help |

You have got to be joking! There's no standard height for transmission swap..if you don't trust your jack stand to go higher just push the transmission under without the jack under it, cuz its not that heavy, until it gets under the transmission tunnel..then lift the bitch onto the jack, jack it up, and bolt it in..they should of taught a common sense class at you school

to take it out just do the same thing in reverse unbolt the transmission, lower the jack, take the jack out from under the transmission and slide the bitch out

I had to lower the tranny all by my self ( I had a brain fart after installing the bearing backward), I raised the car at least 20'' and used a floor jack to suport the tranny in the center point of it. All i got to say if your going to do it yourself is "take your time, and make sure everything is secured"
