S14 A/C problem

Hey all in short, I have a redtop Sr in my kouki. Wiring Specialties wiring harness. The A/C compressor will kick on just fine, R134a canister gauge shows good pressure when it's running, but the air never gets cold... I can swap an engine, take it apart and put it back together but I'm clueless to air conditioning..

Try moving the slider to cold. If it's on cold, the lever could actually be broken off from the adjuster. Happened with my car.

edit: Hmm just read that you have an S14, not sure if there is a manual lever for the hot/cool door mixer. If not, the mechanism itself might not be switching.

I think that is electric in the s14 or vacuum controlled. Either way, I hear it switch over and it isn't "heat" coming out of the vents. It's much cooler than that and when I slide it to hot it gets a lot hotter (like my heat does) so I don't think it's that..

How long if ever was the system exposed to outside air? Was the drier replaced and suction put on the system when charged?

Not for very long, maybe overnight while I had the compressor off to put the CodyAce bracket on. What's a drier? Also no..

the drier is a cannister conected to your ac lines near the condensor. it removes moisture from the refrigeriant.i replace mine if i open the system at all. open overnight is long enough to ruin it. Mine was $8 new. open it and install it right away and go get a proper ac charge so they can pull vacume on the system. that sounds like your problem.

Ahh right next to the battery (or where the battery used to be at least)? I will definitely try that. Is that something I can get at autozone?

Yes sir. Make sure to get the o rings on straight, on the S13 the pressure switch is attached and I had to move it to the new one. It's a very important part of the system.

Nissan 240sx A/c Receiver-drier at Auto Parts Warehouse
This is the drier. Mine has 4ports and an inspection eye on the top. One port for press. switch, one line in, one line out, and one plugged.

It will get a little cold, but suction will assure a full fill and a drier will remove all the moisture making the system much more efficient.
