s13 pop up headlights make noise?

when the lights go up and down, a screeching/groaning noise is made.
is there any way to fix this?

would you recommend any tips on how to get rid of the noise? i sprayed the gear-like red knob with wd40

hey mine do this too. it doesnt sound too horrible so i just assumed it was supposed to do it. whats the fix?

^^First of all, the 'red gearlike knobs' are there so you can manually move the lights up & down by hand. Spraying them with WD-40 will only clean any moisture-related contaminants off of them.

The screeching you're hearing is either the assemblies binding on the hood (adjust hood position), or the rod-ends etc are badly in need of cleaning/lubrication. To lube, use standard lithium or general purpose grease. DO NOT use WD40 as it is for water displacement (hence 'WD'), not lube....

Easy peasy.

it def. has nothing to do with the hood in my case, from what i'm seeing, the arms that are connected to the headlight and the motor are a bit rusted, should i try to take those off to clean them?

Yes. If they're too rusted out, worse case you can either source out new hardware at Home Depot... or just get in there as best you can with a rust solvent & some grease to lube 'em.
