I'd be much more comfortable pounding it flat and welding a small piece of sheet metal over it to smooth it out (give the tire something non-destructive to rub against). That's a very important piece, structurally, and the stamped pieces that are spot welded together have all sorts of impurities between the sheets, so I've had a tough time getting good strong/clean welds in there.

Same way they oem is .. All it is wiring won't be seen and I'm just going to cut a hole to were the intercooler piping will be.. So it will just look like only the motor is there

Good luck with air filter/intake placement. That's the problem I had with the first tubs I made.
