I was looking at the purchase of a certain car, and the carfax came up as "Exceeds mechanical limits" status after it hit a certain number of miles. Will this status allow you to bypass certain laws? here in Memphis I do have to pass emissions, but can i bypass emissions and inspection with this status?

could someone please explain this to me? I would appreciate it greatly

i think i know what you're talking about. they're saying it's exceeded the amount of miles that the car dealer they are associated with will sell the car, going by their standards.. i think.

the status was given and a new title issued as salvage (i honestly couldnt care less about that, this car isnt destined to do much more daily driving)

how old a car is this? It usually is issued when a cars odometer cant register 100000 or 1MM (unlikely) miles. It just says that the milage is unknown and thus the value of the car is not really determinable via the kbb. It can also be issued if the odometer sticks. If it doesnt bother you then fine, just remember resale on the vehicle will suck unless its a restored classic car. Factor this in when purchasing the car.....What is it

it is a 1986 honda civic CRX Si yes i know, its a weak little FWD car, and isnt a nissan. If you want, however, these cars can be made extremely fast. they have a very tight chassis, weigh in around 1800 (this one has fully stripped interior, so it is alot less), and make awesome autoX cars. they also look better than 2nd generation CRX's. and believe it or not, the majority of the older 3g and 4g civic line has alot of interchangable suspension parts with the FB and FC rx7's.

looking at mid-low 13's with a simple b16a1 swap, but im not so sure i would go for that. the money could be better spent elsewhere (read: nissan). this thing costs pocket change, and it could be alot of fun to play around with. P.S.: other than a slight pinging problem, it runs fine. EFI, not 2bbl.
