help installing 2in tach gauge.
i got a gauge for free. some random 2 in tachometer . info on how to get a reading from the tach would be greatly appreciated. if theirs a link to anything you know please send to me

Lol most aftermarket tachs have 4 wires, pos 12v, ground, illumination, and signal. The signal wire goes to the yellow/red wire off the ecu, others are pretty self explanatory. There should also be a 4/6/8 switch for number of cylinders.

What's wrong with your OE tach? Or do you just like putting extra gaudy shit in your car?

I'm guessing the latter. The yellow/red wire (yellow wire, red stripe) coming off the ECU towards the dash harness is the one you want to tap for tach signal.

If you were just probing every wire that's yellow/red you probably burned the tach input up.
There's a reason you connect to the correct wire and that one only.
