my coupe is a conversion and i feel no diffrence between the two. only thing you are changing is you select when to change gears instead of the car. so that might be were he feels the diffrence.

If you're asking if a auto to 5 speed is mechanically different than a manufactured 5 speed, no.

Only difference is the ECU.

i've done many and i've never felt a difference.

the only difference is using the auto ecu to cancel the top speed limiter

nah, i'm asking if the feeling of driving one is different. my brother (probably assumes?) that shifting feels shorter. but some guy on here or on nico stated that it feels the same.
so i was just wondering.

its not shorter.

the transmission itself doesnt go through any changes so why would it feel any shorter/different?

its the same thing as an original 5 speed... if done correctly

no it wont.

auto to 5 speed swap = 5 speed from the factory.

It feels EXACTLY the same.

oooooh ok. LOL I was like "wtf is this dude talking about?"

Talk about a poorly worded question to the masses...lol everybody's all confused and shit...

I take it the REAL question is how does an auto feel in comparison to a 5 speed?

240SX autos are pretty slow in shifting. You could make the auto shift faster/harder with an upgraded valve body.

Handling in a 5-speed should be slightly better than an auto because of the weight difference.

it probably feels shorter cause the auto transmission shifts at lower rpm's
coupled with the fact that your not waiting for car to redline so that you can shift

I can tell you a stock ka feels less gay after a 5spd swap. It is a little faster because the 5spd trans isn't as heavy and has a lot less rotating mass iirc. That's about it.

Yes, the front half is a different length. 240 drive shafts come in two parts with two different lengths per section.

Front half came in auto/5spd lengths
Rear half came in open/abs vlsd lengths

Simply mix and match, then get it assembled and balanced at a shop or you will have problems.
