180SX - S14 tranny = same? Strange noises after swap
Hey guys,
I swapped out my worn 5gear tranny on my 1996 180SX (SR20DET) and replaced it with a S14 SR20DET transmisson. They look basically the same and should be pnp am I right? Now I've got a weird noise when I engage the clutch. I thought the release bearing is fucked, so I ordered a new S14 release bearing and put that in. I noticed that the S14 bearing is slightly thinner than S13 SR. Unfortunately nothing has changed. The noise only comes when engage the clutch. I can put in gears etc. Any suggestions? Thanks ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgoFbLZ8scM#

is the release bearing riding on the clutch 'fingers' all the time?
looks like a lot of wear on them in your picture? you should have a gap/ free play between the bearing and the pressure plate. there are different length release bearing carriers. |
