Charity run/race !?!?
What can i say, i watch too much tv. I was watching BULLRUN on spike tv today and a old school movie 'cannonball run' (1 & 2)... and i thought to myself, that looks fun.
so my idea was, that: 1. try to get donations from various businesses that are industry related to tuners n what not. (hopefully reach a good amount of $$$) 2. get a bunch of crazy zilvians to race across a few states to win a jack pot, which he/she HAS to donate to a REAL charity. (make a wish... etc) in the long run.. hopefully gain some respect and clarify that not all fixed up silvias r wreckless drivers or bad people. (im not sure how.. but im working on it) i was planning on writing a formal proposal for sponsers to the following places: (but not limited to... i havent had a chance to think of more) maxim magazine -cause they always publish crazy things Nissan USA - makes sense right? Disney - cause they love kids Angelina Jolie - cause she fuggin LOVES kids... Spike TV - cause they love cars Budwiser - cause they slap their names on every thing superstreet/import tuner magazines - its a must cellular companies - i will sacarfice my s14 as a billboard Banks - competative fuggers charter communications - fast U2 - bono is tight and he cares mtv - no idea why this came up amazon.com - cause they have money google.com - cause i love that company you get the idea..... even though its not like we can keep the money, but i just wanted to shoot out this idea n see what other crazy fucc's would drive across a few states to win a cash prize, only to donate it to charity. budwiser will be the first i propose this to. whats a decent grand total in prize money? and yes... i know... this is just an idea.... |

I can see there's a lot of interest lol
I'm in. . . but I'm NOT putting any stickers on my car. Well unless they give me parts or something to make my car faster. But I'd probably only put a Nissan sticker on my car. And if there's any hint of even thinking about doing something to destroy my car, I'm out (there seems to be a lot of these shows out now). Yea they should sponser us for car parts so we can go faster/whatever. Maybe incorporate automotive knowledge into it somehow?

I'm down if you actually go through with it. TV + Magazines + Charity = LOTS of girls haha. But i agree, if it involves destroying my car I'm going to have to turn it down... i do that enough on my own. I'm sure it will get a lot of publicity and be fun as it is being spawned from a forum and it being made up cheap/broke ass 240 owners ;P Show the kids that even the broke can do something fun with their life.

fuck destroying the cars... thats a bunch of tv bullshiet.... im just talking about a charity run.. hahaha... the first letter im composing is to buswiser for donations/sponsership and what not... the second will be to Nissan and then so on. As far as stickers and what not, i would rather not, but im pretty sure we will have to do some advertising to get a decent donation amount.
i will also be sending the notice to various media/local news to see if we could get media coverage (cause sponsers love media coverage). being that this takes major time, i am thinking not in a the near future, but still within 2007. side note: the idea was.. that if a company donated cash for the charity, that they would supply banners for us to have for parties / pictures at each rest stop. If a company donates money/parts for the rides, then we should be obligated to display their logo/company name somewhere. like for instance... $1000 in cash or parts = logo on doors $1500 in cash or parts = logo on hood $250 in cash or parts = logo on quarter panels kinda section off parts of the vehicle for advertising if the company wishes to donate parts n what not. as far as distance and resting area... i havent thought of as i really dont know whats the plan for the route, and if other zilvians from other states will be joining. im hoping to get sponsers to help with lodging as well, but i have no idea as how i will present that and who i will present that too yet. * * * * another side note... the destroying of cars bs still troubles me. Im hoping that this is something more along the lines of a fun race... then cut throat race... i mean the goal is to win, but also to help charity... lol. should we open it to non-zilvians? or keep it a zilvian race? (i personally kinda like the idea of a bunch of 240s racing across a few states.) |

Yeah... I don't feel like getting state reffed on T.V. If a company is willing to give me money or parts, then I will easily display a logo. Lodging and gas would also be very nice... might be a lil uncomfy sleeping in the cars. Maybe we can line up some states with tracks, do that as a challenge... everyone loves a challenge. The main challenge will be to actually get to the finish line without blowing up or dying from lack of A/C or something.
Open it up though, no one wants to see a bunch of 240s racing each other across the street, most likely we will all end up blowing our engines half way through for some reason... haha. How many cars do you plan on having? I'm sure there has to be some limit due to safety issues and sponsors probably won't want to fork out money on a ton of cars. |

You probally want to ask the 350z guys also as most 240s owners are broke kids

any specific charities anyone wants to recommend? The sponsership request to anheuser busch has to be pretty much in full detail with the speding budget, so i will have to calculate what stops and how many nights rooms will be needed.. how much gas will be needed and what not.
i will also be asking sponsership from shell / chevron to cover gas on the trip... i am also thinking a route... so starting los angeles maybe then to Las Vegas (sin... more sin....) then to salt lake city Utah then to Boise Idaho (whats to do there?) then to seattle washington pit stop in oregon (just to say we were there. take group photos and what not.) then to sacramento and probally back to LA. how many miles should we go in between stops/checkpoints? |

Make a Wish, PAL (Police Activities League), and stuff to help out the kids would be the best. I mean it doesn't HAVE to be aimed towards kids, but if it does get some kind of coverage people can simply ask viewers and readers to donate as well. Which I believe there are enough car enthusiasts that will read and it will at least cross their mind.
It would be easy to go with the usual set-up (Pilot, Co-pilot) and however many cars start, that and whoever will be documenting the thing should probably be in something reliable that can keep up. Also are you thinking of a planned route that we all follow? Or we choose our own routes to get to the stops/checkpoints the fastest? |
