I'll be there competing. Should be some good competition. There seems to be about 10 quality drivers out of the drivers I know and I'm sure there will be a few more people that will bring some good skills. Around 10-15 of 40 drivers will be good so getting in the top 16 will be tough for most. I'm just trying to figure out what tire setup I'll be rocking to get good results.
I can either go with 215/40/17 ES100 FRONT and 215/45/17 ST115 REAR or 215/45/17 S115 FRONT and 225/45/17 Khumo MX REAR but I'm not sure those will last all day out back. I'd prefer this setup because I hate ES100's nowadays so I got a little dilemna. Khumo MX out back will be better for grip too. I think I'm gonna flip a coin. |

Yeah, I noticed you were registered. Alex mentioned on FA that you were staying over his place. Drive like a grandma when going to his place for reasons you probably already are familiar with. I live about 15 minutes from him on the other side of the hill and I avoid that city and a few of the surrounding cities like it was the plague. I only drive over there in my civic. See you at the event.

I got to see all the Final Round runs on tape and the judging seemed very fair to me. With so many different judges, it tends to be that way. I ended up getting 4th in the competition. I have a feeling that Jeff (3rd) and I had very close scores. I'd really like to see the actual scores of each individual judge. Overall the event was very fun and I am definitely looking forward to the next one.
Sochbat, you have to know that the comp was based off of our best run per round. Some people would screw up but then lay down an amazing run right after or vice versa. |

All in all it was a good day. I was doing good, but Im not at the level of some of the top drivers. I need to work on consistency now.. I hit the course fine during practice, but choked in qualif. Also, my stock SOHC almost failed tech when the airbox fell off.. woops! And it needs new motor mounts as well. As for my favourite drivers of the day, #13 in the burgundy s13, with the veilside wheels (i think this is flybert?) and the silver driftspeed s13, dont know who was driving it, Kat told me but I forgot. Both these guys were doing great, hitting these great lines, and so FAST on the entry! High five these guys and the winners. Oh yeah, and the 5 year old go-kart drivers rocked too. That was an intense race. Now, as for juryrigging, I used to think there was some bias in the scoring, especially with the girls, but when nadine did her runs I was like WHOA! She's sooo much better than the last time i saw her drive, and Hiromi (i think is her name) had great technique, you could tell, but she just wasnt used to the car i think. These girls can definitely drive, and they have some serious hardware. Although, i have to say, when moto told all the non-qualifyers that we 'just got our butts wooped by 4 girls' there were some sideways glances in the crowd, as if to say, 'yeah, sure whatever' but i guarantee you they can go toe to toe with many of the people there and hold their own so give them credit. Oh yeah, for reference I was #12, the white s13 w/ black front bumper.

www.worldwidechang.com/DDC5 have fun.
My videos are a prime example of doing well in practice and choking in qualifying. Nothing is guaranteed. As for judging, if you have questions about it bring it up with the judges. Otherwise any speculation is just that, speculation! -alex |

all the scores were posted on the side of moto's truck w/ what each judge gave the person. should have asked or looked at the event if u thought it was rigged.

Great and fun event. It gives you a pretty good feel of what its like to be driving under pressure. As for judging, I think its fair.. Most/All Drivers will know how did they do. I'm surprise I advance to the next session. I think I nailled it on the 3rd run.

For those of you that felt it was biased, how can you say that when lance made 2nd. Even the guy who drove the M3 got DA recognition. It was very balanced out, they had alot of judges then most other comps so you had a very spread aray(sp?) of how it was scored. Jay and Flybert got fucking decent scores. They did well all day. Chang sux0rz........haha, jk. Next time we gotta help fab up some steel brackets and get that Z a better clutch for alex, because you had the Z looking so damn good throughout the whole day. Good event, quite a crowd for being what it was.

IMO DriftDay Comps are the most unbiased/no politics involved drift comps you can attend if you're allowed (non-pro)... besides those thrown by JustDrift... I think everyone was judged fairly.
Hey sideview_180sx which car were you in?
