steering problem
the car is a 93 hatchback with redtop sr20 that was installed by a shop. the steering seems to hang up at a certain point in the turning radius. did they leave the AIV assembly and/or turbo heatsheild on? it never did this before the motor swap btw.

Have you looked to see if anything is hitting the column when you turn? That would be my first guess, since you know it's a possibility. Not like we can see the car.
Next, did they open the power steering system, and if so did they refill it with the correct fluid and bleed it properly? Using the wrong fluid can damage the rack, an air pocket would give the feel of a dead spot in the rack as well.
