Here is a little Test Day Vid I made. In cabin rocking out to Poison the well..

https://youtu.be/IyMAN9PAf-A

[YT ]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyMAN9PAf-A[ /YT]

Seriously I hate how I can never embed the damn videos. Pisses me off. Should not be this complicated:icon_tdow

Anyways

After the test I took the car home and found that I might've had yet ANOTHER boost leak.

one of my couplers had a small gash in it Looks like the hood was hitting it. So I trimmed the area down where it was hitting and made sure that it wasnt going to touch it again.

Luckily I had some more Vibrant Hose to make another coupler :icon_tup:

I double checked some small things like coolant level etc again and decided to go through my check list I had written on my white board in the garage.
I was still waiting for my new plugs to come in but remembered that my knee was a little sore from constantly banging up against my E-brake bracket. So I pulled out some of my SFI Roll Bar Padding. And Rigged up a nice little damper on it. Works great!

Installed:icon_tup:

Now I'm gonna be working in comfort  But it really does work well haha.

Anyways.... I also forgot about my front bumper. Since I won't be using my New kit until I can afford paint etc... I pulled my Old Burnout bumper out of retirement and fitted it to the Wolf's new Front ducting. You need a front bumper to compete. Doesn't fit the way I'd like it to but at least it mounts up and stays securely in place.

Relaxing the night before the Event with Mia

With all the real maint done I was able to sit down and actually clean up the little things you sometimes forgot about. Wipe off and make sure the Bubble-tech Carbon Door Panes were nice and tight...and Clean! Also showing some love for Super Wow Factory. Solid company off to a excellent start! Stickers are rad!

Turbosource and Super Wow! If any of you guys havent checked out These two companies... You should. :icon_tup::nod:

Even when you Plan ahead... sometimes you forget Really Important things. Such as Rotating your front tires for longer life. This was the day I got back from Testing... Messed up big time. I really Really like the 245/35/18 Federal RSR's up front. Blew it on that one though :icon_tdow:blush:
So I had to go out and source something I could:
1) Afford
and
2) Hold up to a much More Aggressive driving style than I'm used to.

Since I'm not working right now. I have a fixed Budget that I can't go over. All I could Afford were Federal 595's 225/35/18. I was pretty worried about this because Last thing I want is to keep pushing the front end around. Figured as long as I Huck the shit out of the car into my first initiation and keep it smooth in the slower speed stuff.. I should be just fine.
Ruined RSR's

Been Jammmmmming out to Odesza Lately... Solid album!

Continued:

Went and picked up my Tire order from Andy's Tires

The more and More I use them...Although I have limited experience with many of the higher end tires.. The more I come to love the Federal SS595's out back. Really Consistent Grip and Decently long life. Good Price too! Size's 245/40/18.
My Race suit came in. Soooo stoked on it. It's an older model: Sparco M3. But its SA2000. I Don't think I can thank my Sponsor enough for this. Julian from Aftermarket Industries And Elliot from Turblown really came through with this thing. Going with a slightly older suit allowed me to get a higher end one, which was the best move ever, because some of the cheaper suits are really un-comfortable and un-bearingly thick/Hot. This suit will be Embroidered with the "AI" logo on the front of the suit as well as the "Turbo Source" logo. I'm amped!

On Thursday afternoon I went and picked up my trailer, cleaned it out and started packing up everthing I'd need for the event. This was a good time for me to focus on what I would need to do to Qualify on Sunday's comp runs. I also cleaned out the Garage....because theres nothing better than coming back to a nice clean garage.

No clue where the hell this picture went on Photobucket but I can say that they've been dropping the ball organization wise lately. Get it together!!!!!
"insert pic of sick clean ass garage picture with American flag"

Anyways.......I got a call early Wed Saying that my Overfenders have finally made it in off the docs. They've been on the boat for 3 Months due to the dock workers ordeal. So I rushed down there and had to Nab them.
geeeese these are nice.... So amped on them...

I now have practically my complete kit. But I messed up and sold my voltex diffusor. I should've kept it. It looked really good on there. But i'm not going to put any of the new Aero on until I have time and money for paint. Can't wait to put it all on.
Anyways Everything was set. Have my Suit, shoes, gloves, and socks. Trailer was packed, and all was ready for the event.

Me and Brandon Took my truck and trailer out to willow on Friday afternoon to score a good spot for the event. We scored a sick spot right across the way from the parking lot vendor section.

Dropped the trailer off and went home to get a good nights sleep. Brandon was picking me up at 5:15 AM and we were going to head out and start setting up.

Woke up and ate breakfast. Brandon was already on the way and I couldn't wait to get out to the track.

Early mornings at the track are great. Beautiful morning for some solid practice!!!

Continued Update.....

Thanks again!!!!^^^^!!!!!

So we got set up Saturday and had our drivers meeting. Practice was pretty relaxed...but I couldn't shake my Nerves and wasn't really comfortable out there until my last session of the day. I got a total of 8 Laps all through Saturday....which is pretty normal for the competition set up. But I could've used some extra Runs for sure.

Putting on the Super Wow Factory Door Numbers

One of my best friends, Erik Flores Came out from Ventura to help out and watch. Meant a ton!!

I was in B group so figured I check out some of the other drivers in A before heading out on track for the first run

on the grid... Gawd awefully hot out there

Darin, Dan, and Allessio hangin at lunch.....anyone remember.. "Remembering Never." Hah! ...but seriously...?

Practice got progressively better But I was still really nervous. After a while... I just kept telling myself I needed to chill the hell out and just drive. By my last runs I was feeling much better. Threw down a few runs without giant corrections and no spins. Just needed to work on my line coming into the first outside clipping zone and an early set up for the green water building.
Thanks to Import addicts for the sweet pic!

The car ran great all Day Saturday...didn't get hot at all. In fact... I didn't see anything over 92C out there after my back to back hot laps and coming to a dead stop after waiting on the grid.

Plan was to go home get a good night sleep wake up and try to throw down some solid consistent practice before qualifying started.

Here were a couple of my runs during practice on Saturday.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsDTemOjdFw

Continued...

So Sundays practice didn't quite go as planned. I spun a couple times in dummmmmb spots and noticed that i was really starting to Crack under the pressure. I got 5 laps during practice. Spun on 2 of them and linked the other 3. 2 of them would definitely have counted to be scored as qualifiers. I was just so damn nervous that it was hard to focus on where I needed to improve while I was out there. I knew what I needed to do, it was just lack of experience and nerves that got to me this First round. I know the car is completely capable... it's just going to come down to how well I can drive.
Anyways, Qualifying came up and Spun on my most confident section of the track... Initiation. I was pissed at myself because I was feeling the most comfortable during initiation past the first clipping point. Went back in line and sat and waited. Tried to focus...talked to my pops a little bit and asked him to sit next to me on this next run and just told myself to try and forget about the pressure and just drive!! My turn was up.. Last Qualifying run of the event and zero points on the board. Decided to initiate a little late and play it conservative to make sure I didn't spin and was able to carry enough speed into the first outside clip. It put me in a larger predicament than I thought and I had to transition pretty aggressively which slowed me up some...(along with not keeping my revs up) and that cut me pretty shallow on the first outside clipping zone.. was coming up and around the green building and I was going to hit it... so I floored it, corrected "mini manji'd" quickly and set myself up for a solid wall run. ... and then I slowly...lost it and spun. Exited the track pretty bummed. got back to the pits... my Gf, Buddies and fam members were all there to tell me I did great. But I knew I could've done so much better. Over-all I learned so much out there this past weekend....it's hard to say that I didn't take anything away from it. I know where I stand now. I know that the Wolf is competitive...and that everything is going to fall on me now. I need to really work on staying one step ahead of my revs... to keep them up. And to relax out there. If I can solidify those two aspects. I know I can qualify at Rnd 2. Going to do a couple practice days.....or at least one more before Limited Rnd 1 which I'll be driving as well. Other than my performance.. I had so much fun out there. It was a hell of a weekend and I was in love with it the entire time. Met some new people, got to hang out with old buddies and family. It was excellent. For anyone who hasn't been to one of these events... you should definitely check one out if you get the chance. Tons of fun, good people, excellent atmosphere.... Great organization and Awesome cars. I'll Keep you guys updated as I prep for the Just Drift Limited Round 1 on the weekend of the 25th. Thanks for reading!!!
Here's another screen shot from the comp off IG. Thanks to Curtesy_S13 for the photo steal.

and lastly... My surge Tank came in from Australia. Holding it here in my hands.... wow... I'm really impressed.. more info and pics to come!

It's refreshing to see someone actually admit to knowing it was on them.

At least you know that, and you can only improve from here.

Good luck at Round 2!

Yea man, My goal for round 1 was to qualify. I knew that I didn't have the skill yet to compete with the likes of some of these guys who've been ripping around for years and years. So my main priority leading up to the event was making sure my car was 100% solid. That way I could focus on simply driving. The car honestly ran like a dream. I just need to continue to rack up seat time. I'll be going out to practice before Limited Round 1 on the 25th. Hope to get some points on the board this time around!

Update:

Lots of stuff going on, and Not much time to report on it. But I'll give you guys the Low down!! I miss being able to sit down and type up a solid well thought out entry. Seems like all I'm able to do now is throw a bunch of jumbled dialect and photos up in no organized order. I'll try to get back to doing that. It makes reading more enjoyable.

Anyways..

I'll try out a new quicker but more organized layout and then maybe you guys can let me know if it blows or not haha.

Here's a nice look into the SP800 Aftermarket Industries Fuel Surge Tank. Im' pretty jazzed about this bad boy and I can't wait for the Lines and fittings to show up so I can get started on the install!!
The Quality is by far Top notch. Seriously Impressive.

You can tell Julian Austin really spent time on the design. He always talks about "Fluid Engineering" and it's easy to see what he means now that I'm sitting here holding this thing.

One of the most impressive parts is the internals. The mounts that hold the pumps and the rubber that secures it into place....... All I can say is they're not going anywhere.. and I don't think I could ask for a nicer pump hanger. It all goes together with ease... but it's not flexible or floppy or jalopy at all. #PrimoAustralianParts. I'm just amped to be able to take part in such a solid company.

Cant wait to install it!!

I got pushed into some Ricer Mods by my buddy Ryan Carroll. When he was like Look what I did.....I was like....Holy crap... I HAVEEEE to!! #WyldStallyns
You know what this means...

gahhhhhh......these lights are really cool. You can literally put them anywhere. Waterproof too!

Even in the Light you can see them Nice and Rice!.....I mean Bright!!

Ryan and I

#ThisIsTheWolf

I also really have to be so thankful for being able to be with such an awesome girl. Its been a bit over 4 years and everytime I feel like I dont deserve her. She's Beyond Great and I'm so lucky to have met her. She lets me love the wolf, and there aren't many people who could deal with that. Looking forward to my future with this babe!

I Also Scored Tickets to Formula D Longbeach through my Buddy Dan. He's competing in FD Pro-2 this year and Built a supra that really defines his level of commitment. His first Supra back in the day was really nice.. but this car.. is a true beast. A million tiny things that make it unique. You can follow the build on superstreet online or his Instagram: @RADDANDRIFT

Scored an Aero Sponsorship through Rays Factory for one of his 1750 MM GT wings. This thing is massively Awesome and will definitely Change up the look of the car with the new kit!! Price as of right now is $850.00 As a kit which will include the wing, end plates, chass specific wing stands, And all mounting hardware. You can also purchase the deck alone for a bit cheaper. But check out Rays Factory on Instagram if you'd like more info on [email protected] He's also on FB!

Fridays Qualifying was awesome because you got to see all the prep and issues/Resolves etc that teams went through to make sure the cars got on track and were able to rip around. But I was super pumped to drive home friday night and Mock up my wing around 1am haha. Where it "Might" sit.... People say high mount is played out.... I was thinking lowish mount.. but I really don't care much about that. I'm just going to mount it where I think it looks best...or Ray will just send me Stands...and I'm pretty sure it'll look good. He's got a hell of an eye for style... Either way.... what do you guys think?!

Really makes me wish I wouldn't have sold my diffusor. I originally had the shine auto feed rep. Then I sold that and went with a knockoff WRX Voltex Diffusor that looked so sick, but I made a huge mistake in selling it for cash to fund my wheel set up. Now i'm diffusorless...and this wing Beckons for one haha. I'll keep an eye out....but i've got a couple things in the works.
One of the coolest things about FD long Beach is that all the vendors show up. Big names...smaller names.. And you get to actually talk to and see in person parts. I was jazzed to sit in a few of the different seat manufacturers different models. Finally settled on one seat that was the most comfortable to me.
The Sparco Pro 2000 Felt really comfortable out of all the seats I sat in. Including a couple BRIDE buckets. It's something I'd like to invest in before next season.

But of course...knowing that Fd's have limited space.. I chose a back up with a bit smaller dimensions haha

There really isn't much Comparison for the level of some of these cars. Flat out really defines these cars. It's hard to imagine driving this course without holding back.

Full Spare painted kit....with all sponsors in exactly the same location?...No big deal.

I love tools

I was also lucky enough to be able to hang out with Mad Mike Whidett Literally the entire weekend. He wasn't able to get his car here in time due to the ports being backed up, and the only other choice was flying the car over..which you could imagine isn't cheap. So he wasn't able to make it in time for FD Long Beach. But He'll be Competing this year. It was really cool to be able to hear his input on some of the driving/set up/judging that was going on, and really get an inside scoop into a Formula Drift Drivers mind. Couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed either. Little did he know All I wanted to tell him was that I've probably watched the equivalence of the Lord of the rings Movies in time studying his cars on youtube. It was awesome. We went out to dinner after and thats where we really got to conversing. Got to show him pictures of my car, discuss alignment specs/set up and really talk Mazda Rotary. I was pretty Pumped.

Formula Drift was Great! Hell of a friday and saturday. But I woke up Sunday and realized my Buddy Alex was racing in Redline Time Attack out at willow Springs. And since my GF was working.. I was like.. Whelp... Might as well end of the weekend with a bang! Headed out to willow to help out and support!
Check out this guy...3rd Place Finish!!! not bad for someone pulling over on the wrong side of the course forcing him to Lock up and flat spot his tires eh?!

Also got to Help out Dan at Garage Life with their car. Their Lap top Died and A water temp sensor was acting up so We jammed back to my house where i had a spare sensor and my lap top and headed back to the track. Replaced the new sensor with one of my Old spares and the symptoms went away. A quick re-tune to double check and Whaalaah.. first place!

I had a great weekend, Amped to get the car ready for Top Drift Limited here on the 25th/26th! Stay Tuned!!
More updates soon!

I will be so sad if the 18's get canned up front. They look so sweet. Have you considered a lower profile tire?

Duct work looks sweet. As far as competition goes I know that feeling. But think about when you play your best soccer and your mindset. You cannot think too much or take it too serious. I'm confident you will do better every round til it becomes not a big deal in your head.

Just use 17's up front. Better to have good front grip then look cool.

They're Here to stay.... I used 225/35/18 Federal 595's up front at this event. And even though there were some understeer moments.... They're predictable enough. I picked them up because it was the only budget friendly alternative at the time. I really like the 245/35/19 Federal RSR's up front...but My next set of solid fronts will be either another set of RSR's or Falken 615k's... sized 225/40/18. The Smaller width gives me all the clearance I need using like a 15MM spacer up front.

I just need to keep driving, And your right.. just takes time. It's funny though because every night....I go to sleep visualizing the course...where I need to initiate...how it's going to feel, where to look, steady throttle, coming up short? clutch in/hydro...keeping revs up...pass the clip ease into throttle.....don't understeer...let the car slide... don't flick it back too hard... nice and smooth... haha.

You have a point... easier... but I really like my wheels...and I do have quite a bit of grip up front. Just taking a little to figure out which will allow me to have the most clearance. I'm confident a sticky 225 will be the perfect balance. But I do still love my wheels... can't wait to get the damage fixed and the new kit put on.

Man, running through things in my head has helped me as much as driving. It's crazy. After not driving for a while then getting a trouble spot right on the first try next time out is surreal. A lot of it is over thinking for me.

Nah, not much is more important than looking cool.

^ Yea I hear that. Visualization. I'm thinking of Pulling the second springs in my Wg's (7lb) And only running 7 Lbs at the event tomorow. I might even have a 4 lb spring. Just to make me drive the car a little better. We'll see. Until then.... Here's the video from above!!! I got some time!...a little understeering but I was really trying to go as fast as possible and initiate nice and early.

Update: "Top Drift Limited Round 1"

Well.......After being severely disappointed in myself for letting nerves get the best of me during Pro-Am a few weeks back, my whole goal for Limited was to simply drive the way I know I can throughout the entire comp. I mainly knew I needed to practice keeping revs up after initiation and improving my throttle control on this technical track. The layout was supposed to be easier, but I found it a little tougher to drive. They'd moved the First Clip in almost 15-20 feet towards the dirt so that there was less "Run-way" and now...there was a whole lot of open space to the right of the clip.. Which meant that there was more freedom to initiate however you'd like. It took some getting used to but Practice went well. There were only 27 Drivers or so compared to over 70 in Pro-Am, so There was a lot more seat time. Saturdays Practice went well, and the over-all feel of the event was much more relaxed than Pro-Am... Granted though.
I was feeling pretty confident during practice even though the weather sucked. It was mid 50's all day with higher winds and hardly any sun shine.
Saturdays Comp was a ton of fun. We started off the day with an hour and a half long Practice session for both A group and B group. I was happy to have such a long session because I really wanted to try and dial in my approach after initiation into the first outer clipping zone. The car was running great, it was also much more practical in terms of weather... 70+ degrees out all day with light winds and sun shine. We had a drivers meeting right before qualifying and were instructed that we'd get 3 qualifying laps instead of 3 like Pro-Am. This was brought on spur of the moment because the judges really wanted to see us do our best and figured the extra lap would give us some solid confidence haha. It worked though. Me and the wolf pumped out 2 solid Runs and both my buddies Brandon and Micki let me know they should be good enough to qualify. My third run I went all out. Tried to get as close to the FIrst clip as possible and hit it 3/4 on my bumper. I knew that was a big deduction but I really wanted to push it. Coming into the first outer I was feeling like I was on so I kept the revs up and hauled ass into the green building clipping zone.... grazed the first K wall and headed into the second last outer K... ended up nudging it a bit harder than I thought and it bumped me off my line. Luckily I had enough angle to be safe and just let off throttle and harmlessly skid to a slow roll. It's good to see how much is too much sometimes...and that was an excellent run to "Feel it out."

During Practice.... 3 wheelin and dealin

I ended up Qualifying 7th overall. I want to apologize for everyone's names I forgot. I really suck at names and I've always had a problem with it haha... But my first ever Tandem Battle would be vs a Grey 350Z I do remember who it was. Inku Nam. I was feeling pretty confident in my lead runs so I really just Laid it down out there. On my follows...it was hard to get enough confidence to get in close to anyone because I thought everyone was going to spin. I Also knew I wasn't too familiar with what to do in case of that moment when you know they are going to spin. But I ended up following through and he spun once which put me through to the next battle. The next Battle was Vs the "Jimmy Up" car. A sick looking s14 with all sorts of style and a driver that wasn't afraid to get in to any pocket. I'm really trying to remember how the battles went but I want to say we went 1 one more time and on that follow run he ended up tapping the green building third outer a little too hard in front of me.... Almost spun him around directly into the K but he saved it. I simply let off throttle and went inside of him. It was def a rush. Cool ass car and Cool ass dude. That put me through to the next battle Vs Tommy Brownells S13. I had been watching him all weekend and he was very consistent and his car was pretty quick. I can't say exactly how many....but we must've went 3-4 One More times. There were more than a few times that I thought I was knocked out...but every time we lined up... it was OMT!

On the second to last OMT I ended up trying a little to hard and stayed Pegged in 3rd after initiation..... I thought I was reeling him in until I looked over to the left and saw the Pile on dirt mountain.... He Slapped the first outer Clipping cone .....and me coming in hot behind him ended up going directly off into the dirt and exploding the soft dirt everywhere. I looked down and looked like someone had thrown a shovel of dirt on my lap. The first thing I thought of was how long itw as going to take to clean it all out. Then I thought... shit..... i'm out. Turns out it was his fault...... so we went OMT. The wolf was perfectly fine other than a bent Ebay tow hook in the rear. OMT!!!

On my Lead I was all in and didn't have any problem or reservations. I remember thinking this is where i'd shine... I was feeling pretty solid on the run but towards the finish line I decided to take a look back and he was a little closer than I was on my previous follows.

On my Follow for the last OMT I ended up spinning..... which was really a bummer because I know I could have prevented it had I just stayed consistent. Tommy was def the better of us two and I'm proud to have lost to him. Doesn't mean that I wont be looking forward to next time though!!!

He wen't on to battle for 3nd and I moved to battle for 3rd Vs Dori in the Garagelife S14. I think we went 2 OMT's and I ended up doing the exact same thing and spinning on my follow run...which I can't stop thinking about.......even now as I type this. I ended up Getting bumped out for it and Lost the 3rd place Podium spot. It's always a bummer to lose....because I know I could have done better. But I guess I'll just take it for fuel for the next Event at HTM for PRO-Am. I'll keep pushing and we'll see where that takes me! I had a great experience and I can't wait to get out there again soon!

ALso...my passenger side Axle started making a little bit of noise.... If anyone has a set of Nice Low Mile Good COndition 93-95 Axles please Let me know. I don't like to wait till something completely fails to take care of the problem. Thanks in advance and Stay Tuned for more updates soon!!!
