moving to santa cruz
planning on moving when lease is up next year, I have a s14 96 se leather with cold ac. 5 speed swap and a few other mods. problem is i deleted all smog related equipment and emissions. i really wish i didnt throw it away. hopefully by then ill have a swap. but my question is how does it work if i want to put a ls1 or 2jz or other engine in my car how does cali and emissions work with that stuff? or does it not work? who knows i might sell my s14 and drive down an audi a8 and make that all aluminum car a drift car instead (probally the most difficult car to make into a drift car). 4000 pounds right now but could probally get it down to 3250 completely stripped ok im joking. Im just trying to plan ahead cause i need to have a drift car especially down there.

look up the 831 thread in this section. There's a couple of us, including myself in the santa cruz/bay area. CA is pretty strict when it comes to non-USDM engines and smog is required every 2 years.
Check out this unofficial site: California Smog Checks - Emissions Regulations, CA Smog Testing Stations - DMV Guide and the official DMV site for california: Smog Requirements You may be able to get an LS1 or the usdm 2jz smog legal to drive on the roads, but i'm not sure. offroad is perfectly acceptable.
