rust area

i have rust on my floor board around the passenger side outter rear seat bolt area ... that is already going through.. i want to just do a scab patch and weld it .. and cut out the rust ... being that its covered by carpet and no one will see it ..
my dad is a welder and said get all the material and he will do it what thinkness of sheet metal to used
1/16 .. 1/8 etc

and will it be structurally sound enough to withstand corning and twist from going side ways when i go into boost

Cut the rust out, remove enough metal so that you are into unrusted material. Mic the good material and buy something of equal gauge or thickness.

Ok that sound good ... I cut out most of it ... and wire wheeled some to ... I cleaned up 95% of the rust ... but around the seat bolt hole is being held in by almost nothing. Ill be If I can salvage that peice and just weld around it ... ill pay more pics later
