[Chicagoland] 92 (S13) hatch, w/5spd trans (good), blown KA24DE (sad)

1992 5spd manual red/black (red body, custom black top) S13 fastback (no power windows or mirrors=lighter). 5sd manual transmission and clutch are still solid. KA24DE motor is blown. 130K on chassis... For Sale $1700 o.b.o.

It's interior is stripped in the rear and dynomatted, more details
  • New paint
  • No visible body rust
  • Replaced dash, no cracks!
  • Replaced spoilerless hatch - no rust!
  • New front windshield and seals
  • Replaced driver's door (needs to be re-keyed)
  • Short throw shifter with nismo shiftknob

NOTE: The 17" wheels and strut tower bars are staying with me for possible part out later. The 15" stock steelie wheels/hubcaps & tires will be back on the car for sale, there are new all-season Cooper Cobras on the steelie stockers.

There is some rust by the passenger side rocker panel (which was sealed by the previous owner, and then I had the entire car resprayed) and minor rust on one of the frame rails, but nothing crazy (you can come and check it out in person if you like). The strut towers are rust-free too. Needs some e-brake cables!

Here's some action shots of the night the motor blew... (last Saturday) most likely an oil starvation (burning?) issue which led to catastrophic internal failure.. no hole in block though or oil on pavement...

Here are some bettAr pictures of the car:

I'm asking $1700 OBO. (only asking soo high because of the recent paint and replacement parts in the car.) You can email me at rps13 @ jgtca.com and we can work out additional contact details from there.

Thanks & lateRZ

The motor had 130,xxx miles on it, and was burning oil (old @ss piston rings probably)--so we're guessing oil starvation?. I didn't check the oil level for a week and then went for a 100+ mile drive, some of which was very "sporty" driving..... I heard metal popcorn and then clanking noises (like a wrench or two tossed around inside a 55gal metal drum)... yuck. So we're guessing some pretty serious internal damages (connecting rod bearing failure perhaps? we didn't bother to open up the motor as it's not worth our time to diagnose) on the bottom end. The motor is siezed and will not even turn over (the starter motor can't hang with the frozen crank I bet...).

Oh wells at least she went to a good home... she's replacing another car which was rolled but the motor was still good...

Nope worth more than $800 in replaced parts alone, let alone the paintjob.

Oh yeah, the car is sold
