KA Performance Intake Mani Question

Hello Zilvia!

I am new to the forums, but I have an inquiry and I'm not sure how I can word this in the search engine in order to get around other threads posted about the STOCK intake mani..

I am in the process of rebuild a ka24de, and I don't like the design of the stock Intake manifold.

I came across a few performance intake manifolds online that all look a little bit like this.

<a href="http://tinypic.com?ref=2b4hae" target="_blank"><img src="http://i40.tinypic.com/2b4hae.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

I was wondering, If intake mani's like this offer all proper vacuum function as the stock would, and I'm sure they don't, but emissions also?
and it looks as if theres no where for an EGR valve to be mounted on these either.

If these functions can not be performed with a these performance Intake Mani's

Will the car still be suitable for Daily Driving?

Thanks everyone

Most manufacturers post a disclaimer that their parts "are for off-road use ONLY, and may never be installed on a vehicle used on public roads" or some variation there-of.

Likewise, if the parts are CARB exempt, then they can be used. Generally though, components that axe emissions equipment are not supposed to be used on public roads.

I don't live in CA, so take this with a grain of salt, and I'd suggest reading up on your DMV's website if you're concerned with legality.

Thanks man!

Being from Cali, those would be illegal, But I will have my ways around that.
The stock intake design seems inefficient with the air having to go under and over.

My main concerns are that if not having EGR , will effect my drivability under non racing conditions.

I would not change the intake manifold on a Naturally aspirated KA24DE with oem camshafts.

There is no special "better" design that will cause the engine to perform "better" under these circumstances.

Thanks for the responses.

I should note I am going for turbo on low boost.

But now I'm just considering using the stock one for ease of use and comparability and to save money

Generally the stock manifolds aren't too bad... (Dave Vizard) Mr Vizard said that it can be better to cut open your stock Mani and modify it then fork up for an aaftermarket one.

(Dave Vizard's How to Build Horsepower was where that came from)

You know what, I might just do that so I can keep the same functioning. Smart thinking!
