Q45 ring and pinion in a s13 open diff
Hello zilvia, after countless hours and visiting multiple forums my question still remains unanswered, I'm try to put. a q45 ring and pinion 3.5 final drive in a s13 open diff and then have it welded, I'm currently running a ls/t56 combo with a vlsd and it Doesn't feel as potent as it used to, and I've always wanted a welded diff but the stock final drive is cancer, so the most I have found about my question was, it's possible to swap a q45 R&P in a s13 with a LSD (tomei or kazz) , and I also found that you have to swap all the bearings and spacers from s13 pinion to q45 pinion, I have not found Any forums/ thread were someone swapped the q45 R&P in a s13 open diff, so please any help and info is mucho appreciated!

Yeah, don't do that. Either find an entire Q45 diff or just put a Z33/34/G35 diff in the car. It's much less work and then you can run 350Z axles.

A bit late, but for the sake of future googlers, I'll include my experience.
I purchased a q45 3.69 R& P and only have R200 S14 open differential casing. I disassembled the s14 differential and found that the tapered outer pinion bearing and race, were much smaller than the outer pinion bearing on my Q45. Apparently the Q45 had a R200V housing which utilizes a much larger diameter race and bearing. So what I needed to do was pull off the bearing from the open differential pinion, and press it onto the Q45. Right now, I utilized the sleeve that came from the open differential (longer) with pinion height and bearing washers from q45. Everything is bolted in, however the differential and pinion are binded. It was free rotating peior to installing race caps. I can't even rotate, after my battle of seating the differential race and shims. Next step is to disassemble again, and use the sleeve that came with the Q45. I'll update if successful Sorry for the bump over year. Just figured this could be helpful for others in the same position . |
