ka tranny with rb bellhousing question

ok first off, don't worry. it's not a stupid question like how do i do this or will this work...just plz keep reading

with that being said, i already matted both rb bellhousing and ka rear end tranny with each other and installed it.

so as for those who already did this in s13, did you guys notice that the ka rear end is longer than the rb's? ppl have told me it's identical so i didn't think of this problem, thus the shifter is about 2-4inches due south of the actual shifter hole?

is there anyway for me to correct this without cutting the shifter hole?

I take it you have a RB20DET motor. No confirmation but I read somewhere that its the CA18 tranny is what you would want to mate on the RB20 bellhousing for the shifter to be on the stock location. KA/SR tranny will bolt up but as you noticed its longer. I'm sure someone here has better confirmation. GL!

so i measured both trannys and hybrid tranny. here are the numbers
alright so here are the lengths.

rb internal casing: 17" KA internal casing: 20"
rb gearbox outer rim part: 1" KA gearbox outer rim part: 1"
rb bellhousing: 14" KA bellhousing: 14"
TOTAL: 32" TOTAL: 35"

so what i have installed right now is:
KA internal casing: 20"
KA gearbox outer rim part: 1"
RB bellhousing: 14"
TOTAL: 35"

measured distance of shifter location with stock location and it's roughly 2-3" due south.
checked and bellhousing is flush with motor. my tranny mount would bolt up right if the bolt holes weren't stripped.
