While making the 500+ mile trip up I-35 from school to home i was gettin sleepy and decided it would be good to go real fast and wake myself up. Anyway, i was doin 110mph and noticed the engine was still pullin pretty good. I was pretty surprised considering i have friends with mildly modified Si's (please refrain from honda bashing) that pretty much dog it after about 105. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this experience or if it had something to do with my airbox modification a 5 degree outside temperature. On a side note, the car was extremely stable at this speed with a pretty wicked crosswind.

any suspension mods??? dude... my old S13 with only a slightly stiffer suspension would chill at 120 all day. the high end on that sucker... i miss that. My S14 doesn't feel like it has that power up high in comparison, probably the intake and exhaust, and definitely the cams.... i'm looking to swap for some '91-92 cams and see how well it pulls beyond 4k. well, that and the turbo.
meanwhile, the S14 with sportlines and KYB struts is perfect at high speeds.

Suspension Mods: Eibach Pro-Kit Tokico HP's (which are stiff as #### i might add)
it actually felt more stable than my former stock Z32

i agree, i felt like cruisin along at 100+ all the way home

power mods are great, but man i love having a well planted car

i wish i could go over 80 mph...haha thats the fastest i've done with my auto S13...sigh it's a pity...my tires have like a few holes in EACH which are all plugged and tires are out of balance, my alignment is off and my shocks are all busted...so i don't even try..haha..and my brake pads are WARPED like crazy...when i brake i swear my whole dash seems to come off..haha..but it's okay...fox one thing at a time...my car at 80 is already scary for me?..i'm really juss guessing it's on my tires and shocks?...cause in my friends integ me takin it to 100+ mph i felt like a GOD...i know it's FWD so that might make a diffrent and it's got a full suspension setup but i would like my 240 be that stable too...i gotta be more confident when going fast...

I had a completely stock 90' 240 Auto w/ nothing but an Injen SRI and I was doing 125 down I-95 through Virginia. Car was Inspiringly Rock Solid, and begging for more. Unfortunately we hit traffic. (we were racing an Integra, Mustang V6, and a Honda Accord..all doing close to that, and I started to leave all of them) I had an 89 ford PGT turbo for a while. we did about 120 in it, but that was freakin scary.. it was floatin all over the place.

Many people are suprised at how fast the 240 is. I used to come through Ft. Bragg really late and night and just kept the speedo buried the whole way. Raced a mercedes coupe down the interstate and weaving through traffic at 100+ I annialated him. In TX I raced a V-6 mustang down some back roads. I just rode right with her until she hit her top end limiter and then I just blew by her and met her back at the house. She was like, "how fast were you going?" So I told her I didn't know the speedometer only goes to 115 but I pegged that easily. Lastly I was going down the interstate in FL right near Ocala and was doing 85 in a 55 when I passed a trooper. I downshifted and started rolling on the gas when over the next hill I see 2 more sitting there waiting so I just floor boarded it and the speedo went all the way around past the odometer. I'm still not sure how fast I was going but it was FAST and after the next hill I didn't see any of the troopers anymore. On the way home from daytona from spring break I was following a supra TT doing about 120 and some guy in an escort station wagon and an older model integra were trying to keep up. Unfortunately I had gone to SBN and picked up 6 batteries and subs equaling almost 500lbs. My car was so low in the back you couldn't even see my tires but I just hung back and followed them. It rode suprisingly smooth considering.

On a side note, why won't they let you set the cruise past 95?

me and my s14a silvia went on a cruise at 220kph thats about 140 mh and my silvia still wants some more but for me its enough at that speed my car is still rock solid maybe because i was using tein and take note my car is a matic.
what scared much is the four tiny allen screws in my tein camber adjustment plates, what worries that it may come off at that speed, rather than that my car is rocksolid.

When I first got my S12, we got it upto 190kph(116mph) that was standard, with tow of us on board, with some nice soft standard sus. it's ok on a road with no bends in it, but where I com from we thend to start rallying, but hey who to complain except me.

Yeah, on the way from Flag to Phx and back, I kept the truck around 105 the whole way. Didn't do too badly, but I want that cam. Raced a Honda around the turns coming into camp verde at 105-110 all the way down the hill. He didn't have the balls to pass me. Kinda weird. I guess he was scared I was cornering that fast with studded snow tires, sand bags and cinderblocks in the back 'cause it's snowing in Flag.

Just brought my '89 Coupe home from St Louis to Denver and cruised 105+ most of the way. I found 115mph which is as high as the speedo goes to be smooth. Feels like the govornor kicks in around that time though. BTW, I have to mods. It is pure stock base model.

Ok whoever says they went more than 119 is lying cause there is a limiter in the 89-94 240's at 119, don't know about s14's but i have a 91 hatchback, and i get to like 110 easily, no intake or exhaust

not to undermine you or anything, but you can easily get a JWT tuned ECU that gets rid of the governor.

here's the thing i've discovered about the 240's, i have a 93 coupe w/ just an intake that don't even fit (since it was from my old camry), i can hit the speed liminator easily, @ 115 i think, on 4th gear, @ around 5k rpm. so i think the 240's has bad gearing, 'cause each gear could be just covering a shorter range of speed, and it'll be geared for accelration. but heck, top speed is too easy to hit, and it's pretty stable

I have a 93 240 and my speed limiter is at 125. It gets up to there ok and at least on this car it doesn't kill the engine when you hit the speed limiter(my sentra did.)

OK if this is a top speed competition then I have had 145mph out of my s14 and she was still pullin', I did this at about 2am on a motorway (I'm English, don't you know!!!) but had to ease off as I came up behind a few slower! cars. Not wanting to risk one of them being a traffic cop I thought 145 was a good enough (until the next time!!!!!!)

I have a 90' fastback. When it was auto I got it to about 133-136 and the engine wouldnt pull anymore. It was at about 5700RPM I think, not too sure. But when I converted it I hit about 138-142 in 5th at about 6220RPM, so I pretty much ran out of gear.

soon2b i hit almost 115 in a 97 sentra with horrible alignment.the alignment is so bad that you'd hit someone within a second or so if you let go of the wheel on the highway or in traffic. anyways, i work out and have strong arms and all, and i only backed off because i couldnt hold the wheel in place. a FWD car with bad alignment at that speed is frightening. I was still accelerating at that point, as well, not cruising. I was amazed that the car would actually make it that fast.
