Engine bay questions

I have an s13 coupe shell I just picked up and I have a few questions about things I've ran across cleaning up the engine bay.

First off while what is this? I don't remember seeing anything like this when I pulled the engine out of the hatch.

Next how do I eliminate this mess

I'm wanting to paint the engine bay while the motors out and the main issue I'm having is the brake lines. Would it be smarter to remove them completely or just unhook them from the master and try to paint behind them? Also same thing with the harness at the firewall when people paint their engine bays do they pull the harness completely out cause It really sucks to remove on the drivers side.

And the final question is....
I have a single cam ka the dual cam came out of the shell. so at the fuse box with all the connectors that ran to the dual cam once those are unplugged and the engine was removed are the plugs the same? I know there's probably 100 threads on this but it's always going single to dual not the opposite.

First is ps line with triple pressure sensor

Second is a simple process, do some search on here. It's been covered a bunch.

Thrid . Remove lines and paint. Be thorough.

This is a perfect opportunity to paint the bay; so the best thing you can possibly do is take your time and do it right.

I am right at the engine bay paint part of my build- Please feel free to troll it (bottom of page 1 - page 2). I got a lot of good tips/ideas from the folks here as I began to prep it: http://zilvia.net/f/builds-builds-on...un-mobile.html

As far as the mess you have going on with your charcoal cannister, let me know if you need help with what to do... But I am pretty sure it will be self-explanatory once you do some research & figure out the evap system. In short, you can delete it all the way back to the tank & vent to atmosphere. DO NOT cap it off unless you like imploded tanks and/or having fumes building up in there with nowhere to go (ahem, *choke* Pinto *cough cough*).

Thanks looking at your thread helped a lot. So all the lines the come off the canister to recirculate the vapors back into the engine can I just cap those off at the engine?

Yes you can cap off the engine ports when you remove the cannister. When you remove the actual hardline back to the check valve, make sure you do something to vent the tank at that point.

On a DOHC KA, I'm pretty sure that once you get rid of the EGR & evap systems, that the only vac lines left are for the brake booster, FPR & PCV- and you will need those.
