Agreed; if that was a genuine response (and I guess there's not too much reason to beleive it's not) then I feel somewhat relieved that not everyone on the SCC editorial team felt like the car belonged there.

OTOH, they could at least have used something like a 240z or 280z that ricers will never (I hope) flock to no matter how many they see in mags... the 240sxs are still too available and maintainable (and affordable) to ricers...

I wish i had 30 G's.  Doubt i would put the gay paint @ 350 per quart and spend 27,000 on just an exhaust, header, intake, and system.

I think i would spend 30 G's trying to get a Skyline.

Obviously the guy cares nothing about handling..   He has gab shocks but only FRONT SWAY BAR?  and Front STRUT BAR???  that bitch will plow like bull dozer..  Suddenly his revered RWD car drives EXACTLY like a FWD (oh excuse me.. "Wrong wheel drive)..

That car epitomizes everything that is wrong with the Import tuner crowd, and nothing that is right...  He spent over $3000 for the brembo brake kit to stop his STOCK HP???  MORON!..  what a waste...  That man has more money than he knows what to do with.

Sad part is he was probably one of the newbies that chimed in acting like he knew everything, and we lit his ass on FIRE!..  now he's out being ALL the rice he can be.

That was one of the most disapointing articles that I have seen in a long time.  I really thought of SCC as much better than that.  I read SS just to kill time and SCC is the quality reading material....but now what do I do?  Go back to Road and Track?  

Man the world has been infected with the rice disease.....who wants to buy my 240sx?  I'm getting out before it gets to me and end up putting a "pic-a-nic table" on the back (maybe that wouldn't look so bad ::cocking hammer back:

Did you see the last issue with the 3 basically STOCK auto Supra's? That was ridiculous. These guys are making me ashamed to be from Texas. Don't worry though. Our project/company cars (Reflex Racing) should be finishing up next year:

S13 SR hatch road/drift 400hp
S13 Silvia KA+T drag ?00hp
S14/15 KA+T drag ?00hp

If our cars don't make it in, I'll be pretty pissed. Blow away that silly little S13 project car they have. No compromises...

It's kinda wierd. I used to drive a crappy old mazda, and then ended up buying this s13 coupe. Cause I've never seen them around. Nissan is not popular at all. Now, since all these magazines are cramming Nissan and SR20's down people's throats, I've had requests to buy my car. Its ridiculous. just to let you guys know, i'm a honda owner...looking at 240s for a while. i'm not getting one now, i'm trading in the crx and getting a del sol. just thought i'd let you know that not all honda owners are converting to nissan just yet. you may all have a sigh of relief now. in the future i plan on entering the orgasmic world of nissan, but only when i can afford an s14...

Most of you probably expected an answer like coming from a current honda owner. However, that is FAR from why i'm switching to nissan in the future.

I love the way the 240 looks...plain and simple. Sure, the SR swap sounds great, but i'm not planning on getting a 240 simply because of the magazine buzz on the cars. To me, the 240 is just another import, and one that is less recognized than a honda...and that's what appeals to me.

Why am i not in a 240 right now? Because when i get a 240, i want to have money set aside. I want to be able to work on it when i have more experienced knowledge of cars. To sum it up, i want to get a 240 when i'm more "mature" in the automotive world. When i get a 240, i want to work on it, and do everything RIGHT. I've been into cars for 4 years now, and am not even close to the level that i'd like to be at (as far as knowledge goes). That's why i'm getting a del sol.

Over those past 4 years of getting into cars, i've spent probably 98% of my time learning about hondas and working with hondas. Not because i necessarily WANT to, but because that's what was around me, that's what my friend's drive (except one who has a 240). That's why i'm sticking with the del sol...because i'm still learning.

So i hope this cleared it up for you. I'm a newbie. I own a honda. I'm NOT a ricer. I don't give a shit about the 20+ different versions of the altezza light for hondas. I don't give a shit about triple decker aluminum wings for hondas. I don't give a shit about Mugen parts for hondas. All i care about at this time is how to better my knowledge of cars in general, and hondas are what i've learned so far, so i'm sticking with them for the next year or two.

I don't mind the attention.  I actually like the fact that I can talk to a quasi-enthusiest and they sort-of know what my car is..  and as long as the publicity we get is good, quality, performance driven publicity, then our world will only be better for it.  Its trashy articles like the one here that cause problems.  I emailed them about it, and this is the reply I got from mr. oldham:

He appears to be so oblivious to the rice created by this type of smut.  He says its a show car, but they talk about how mr mahmood want to make it handle, go fast, etc, and how he street raced with a mustang, and take all the pictures of the car on a track, implying performance.. WHEN THE CAR HAS NONE!..  ugg..  hopefully this man will come to the light one day..

also..  I like people who are Import enthusiests..  what car they drive now, or plan to drive, makes no difference.  We are all battling the world of "Rice" together.  FWD..RWD..AWD..  does not matter.  I gladly welcome any enthusiest to the 240sx crowd.

Remember folks, Scott Oldham has bosses too. Do his higher-ups care if SCC is educating the automotive enthusiast? Probably not, as long as they're making $$$$. In a perfect world they'd be able to do both, but I'm willing to ignore the occasional 'show car' since they're still better than any other mag available.

As an SCC reader for years, I often detect thinly-veiled sarcasm at these 'show' mods (ie. most Reader's Rides over the last year <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sigh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

'> ) and I'm sure the editors all share Jacquot's "That 240 sucks" sentiments. But I honestly can't figure out why they'd risk pissing off their regular enthusiast readership just to grab a small piece of the already-flooded 'TvN3R-mag' market...

Not because i necessarily WANT to, but because that's what was around me, that's what my friend's drive (except one who has a 240). That's why i'm sticking with the del sol...because i'm still learning. So i hope this cleared it up for you. I'm a newbie. I own a honda. I'm NOT a ricer. I don't give a shit about the 20+ different versions of the altezza light for hondas. I don't give a shit about triple decker aluminum wings for hondas. I don't give a shit about Mugen parts for hondas. All i care about at this time is how to better my knowledge of cars in general, and hondas are what i've learned so far, so i'm sticking with them for the next year or two. whoa! that was awfully long. anyways, peace.

Get over it. Scott Oldham" He appears to be so oblivious to the rice created by this type of smut.  He says its a show car, but they talk about how mr mahmood want to make it handle, go fast, etc, and how he street raced with a mustang, and take all the pictures of the car on a track, implying performance.. WHEN THE CAR HAS NONE!..  ugg..  hopefully this man will come to the light one day.. also..  I like people who are Import enthusiests..  what car they drive now, or plan to drive, makes no difference.  We are all battling the world of "Rice" together.  FWD..RWD..AWD..  does not matter.  I gladly welcome any enthusiest to the 240sx crowd. Do his higher-ups care if SCC is educating the automotive enthusiast? Probably not, as long as they're making $$$$. In a perfect world they'd be able to do both, but I'm willing to ignore the occasional 'show car' since they're still better than any other mag available. As an SCC reader for years, I often detect thinly-veiled sarcasm at these 'show' mods (ie. most Reader's Rides over the last year <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sigh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> ) and I'm sure the editors all share Jacquot's "That 240 sucks" sentiments. But I honestly can't figure out why they'd risk pissing off their regular enthusiast readership just to grab a small piece of the already-flooded 'TvN3R-mag' market...
