Running 20 psi on stock headgasket and cams. Been this way for about 2 years, but i had the knock off isis 3871, which is just a journal bearing version. Bought the Garrett 2871r last augustish and been loving this turbo

stock cams seriously hold down the VE on an SR20DET. Literally 70 horsepower worth of VE at 7,000RPM is missing. Pay $550 for a set of S3 cams, install on OEM springs, drop the boost to 18psi and your dollar to horsepower ratio is: $7.85 per horsepower.
I am bored

I'm curious on how much whp you made on the Dyno with stock cams?

Also, what Dyno was it tuned on?

I'm really looking at the GT2871r .64ar as my next turbo,
As of now I have t28 with tomei poncams, and tune on E85.
Was able to make 295whp/332lbft, on a conservative tune, on a Dyna pack dyno.

I need bigger turbo!

Just make sure you have a metal head gasket and big enough injectors to take advantage of the increased flow of the GT2871R. Otherwise, you will just be sacrificing response.

340whp with stock cams is spot on, in my opinion.

Was that at 19-20psi?

Good numbers btw

Buddy of mine got his S14 tuned yesterday.

Had it tuned by Koji Arai, at auto talent.

Mods list:
-fresh built bottom end (stock compression)
-Arp head studs
-APEX'i 1.1 metal HG
-tomei 260 cams (hydraulic)
-Freddy intake manifold
-GT2871r .64 A/R 52 trim
-E85

It made 366whp, 308tq at 16psi.
Clutch started to slip after 17psi, so we need to put a new one in for future re-tune.
This was on a Dynapack dyno.

I'm pretty sure when we go back for re-tune at 20psi it should make near 400whp.

Was able to get my motor back in and dyno tuned by Enthalpy Saturday when he was in Houston.
S15 SR
Gt2871r .52 trim
stock cams
660cc injectors
Tomei headgasket
Z32 MAF
Tial 38mm mvs wastegate on cody ace manifold

Surprisingly after a little tweaking best run was 348/340 @20psi on Dyno jet. Pretty Stoked!

Really nice! I love you're tq gain!

After 6k it drops really nasty, a pair of JWT S3 cams would be perfect. That way you get a nice consistent power band all the way to redline.

Looks good though.

Your stock cams are choking the top end.

JWT S3s would work great.

Nice numbers with stock cams. Best bolt on turbo for sr20. I have one for sale if anyone is interested.

Yep, that huge falloff is very indicative of lack of flow (particualrly in the head).

In all honesty, a set of JWT S4 (NOT S3) would be more beneficial IMHO. The talk (from what I see) of it losing lower end torque is not entirely founded and even without degreeing makes power everywhere and more than the S3 cams.

Made 35+ WHP peak my setup and 20+WHP (using S4 cams on a T3/To4E) everywhere else over stock cams without degreeing

Yes I plan on getting some cams and running E85 in the future.

Cotbu, we got the afrs straightened out to pretty consistent between 11.5 to 12, the ones shown were on the first few pulls.

I can't find a direct comparison of a billet wheel upgrade on the 2871r vs stock?

Can anyone let me know or show a dyno comparison?

Where does boost max out and kick in on the RPM band?

It's good thinking but not really necessary if it's not touching, as that's the low pressure side and returning to the compressor

just wrap your ac hose with heat insulator (it's called armaflex here, i don't know over there)... it doesnt burn, and your piping will stay cool. you can wrap it more than one ply if you want. just use metal fixings, not plastic cable ties obviously. some stainless wire will do the job. we used to use it on intercooler hoses too, it really makes a difference.

I already wrapped the hose in that type of material, I just want to do it right the first time I can get a godspeed blanket for 40$ shipped and supposedly there blankets are awesome for the price plus I heat wrap the manifold and elbow

I also have to heat wrap the dump tube
