KA24DE Shifter Plate Material

Okay, so this is a bit of an odd question, and I couldn't find anything from a brief google so I'm counting on you guys. I have a Tomei Short Shifter and I can't get the f***ing tabs to stay in the grooves on the boss on the plate. SO I was just going to weld the tabs to the shifter plate. Problem is, the tabs are stainless steel, and I'm pretty sure the shifter plate is aluminum (which obviously won't weld to steel). Can anyone confirm/deny what the material of the OEM Nissan shifter plate for a KA24DE transmission is?
